Not sure if you guys have seen this yet or not... starting bid is $.01. Will be very interesting to see how much this goes for. Anybody nearby that would consider picking this up? Looks like one of the headlights is probably good (would need scratches cleaned up though) and the roof rack is still there, plus it's possible that some of the rear and opposite side panels/cladding might be intact.

I wonder how high the reserve is? I would consider going to PA on a weekend with my trailer....It is 730 miles from me, so about 300 in gas plus 150 in misc hotel and whatnot. But with the reserve being anything more than 500, I can't see that being worth my time. Cladding pieces may bring about 700 bucks total, roof rack-200, headlight-75, side view mirror-75, misc trim/seats/ and so on inside-700. Lot of miles, so under hood stuff probably not worth a whole lot, grill looks ok, rear end is probably ok, so I would guess somewhere around $2K in parts, pending the condition of the drive train...My wife is giving me that look right now...uh oh, gotta go....:freek:
If anyone gets it and if there is no line up for it, I would like to get my turn in the line for parts. I know handeeman and I would be interested in the roof rack, also I would need the rear door cladding, if the climate control unit is easy to put into 99 model and it's priced well - I would get that one to replace mine - I just like the 2000/2001 look better, also I would like to get the plastic cover that goes around the instrument cluster and then continues to go around the head unit and the air vents (I'm not sure how that frame is called) and the driver's door handle that has those controls (I just need the handle, my controls are fine but the handle has one tab broken off). So whoever gets it - let me know, I'll buy some parts.
Supposedly works for the VX... but I thought the Trooper had the 2D-4H-4L transmission, not the 4L/4H?

Anyone reasonably local should keep a real good eye on this ...!!
If you have the ability to take it apart and store the salvaged parts ...
...it could be a bargain.
I'd value it at about $800 -$1000 where it sits...
..and maybe $1200-$1500 after pick up and tow home.
Undamaged Glass / rear door / roof rack / undamaged cladding / undamaged panels..
..are EASILY worth that alone.
(BTW..I already asked seller if R/Rack was 4 sale ..NOPE!...all or nothing!)

Yep that's the one that was for sale in this post. Wonder why it has not sold ?
I agree with that concept, but shipping is so expensive, that it makes it very difficult to turn a buck. it cost me almost 200 just to ship the front cladding I sold a month ago. If you don't have a business account, shipping gets crazy expensive, they are still charging a fuel surcharge, even though gas is cheap....
I can't say enough great things about Greyhound shipping. I shipped a hood insert from Ohio to California for $50. I dropped it off on Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati and it was available for pickup on Monday morning in San Diego.
The only catch is, you have to drop off and pick up from a greyhound station. Its really easy though, its a whole separate area than the bus terminal.
I have also used them to ship a bumper from Ohio to Florida for less than $100.

Hmmm, I just checked it out, there are restrictions, the bumper would have just fit...and can't be over 100lbs, that eliminates tranny, maybe rear axle? Rear door is too big, but most other stuff would be fine...Sweet!!!Quote:

Just curious to see who I am bidding against?
If you are looking for all those little pieces...shipping is ridiculous though...but a good deal overall I would think.

I might give you a run if I can get my friend up in Fredericksburg (not Tom) to let me borrow his trailer for the weekend. Still trying to decide how much I want to spend though...
But I really don't think we should be competing with each other to buy it. After all, anybody on this board who buys it is just picking it up to part it out to other members, so outbidding each other seems counterproductive. Maybe I'll start another thread to continue this thought...
7 days left and already 28 bids pushing price over $10K... will be very interesting to watch considering it will likely give us an idea of the max price one can expect when they sell their VX. Plus this ad is simply amazing for amount of detail - this should be the template for all other car ads on eBay.

Nice Dragon for sale, but some interesting oddities... oversize tires look great (would be nice to know exact size though) but looks like the TB crank needs rear springs to match. Engine bay looks immaculate. Paint looks to be in great condition. But wtf is this? Looks like they just have the underside of the front cladding painted? Poor man's VXC/rowhard faux skidplate?

Clear/smoked/amber (OEM) side markers and turn signal lenses... not too bad a price from their website, and occasionally you can get a better price when they list an auction on eBay.

stock parts from an 01, no aftermarket pieces or wheels btw
He's pretty cleaned out already, but he responded to my email really fast.
I'll keep an eye out but keep in mind that I'm not running a recycled parts finding business in this thread. It's meant as a heads up for other members/guests, so if you need a more pro-active effort, I'd suggest you work your local junkyards and do what I do: search eBay (Stores section may have what you need), www.searchtempest.com (Craigslist batch search tool), www.bing.com/shopping, shopping.google.com, shopping.yahoo.co.jp, and occasionally amazon.com. I don't search them all everyday, so like I said, if you need something in a hurry you'll probably want to search yourself.
Best of luck, and like I said, I'll keep an eye out for you.
Stock head unit if anyone needs one. No reserve and opening bid is $5.

Radiator for $117, not sure whether that's a good price or not though.

Mentioned this one earlier in this thread. Might work for you, but you'd still need an insert and a #@%!-ton of Bondo.

Anybody want to be a guinea pig? I'm sure this will definitely work as a bolt-on mod.

My friends and I refer to these as "Erector-Set" spoilers. I'm sure it would look oh-so-classy on your VX. ;) Price is pretty high too.

That turbo kkit is not for a vx. It's just a kit that u cut/mod to fit so be careful if u want it.
I know, I just think it's funny when you see products advertised as fitting a particular vehicle then read further in the ad to discover that it's basically on you to make it work.
I think I'm gonna start selling a custom vx turbo kit. Kit will include turbo intercooler and long straight piece of aluminum. I promise it can be made to work....lol
I've posted about this before, but I second that JAMAS!!! Greyhound's shipping prices are unbeatable! I shipped my backseat to Osteomata Phoenix to Miami, weighed 65 lbs, cost $73. I bought a "large wardrobe box" from U-Haul for $12, plus some nylon reinforced tape and she was good to go! Os said it arrived in fine condition, took maybe 4-5 days. Both UPS & FedEx Ground were around $235+. Savings was well worth the hassle of drop off/pick up at a Greyhound terminal.
So did anyone here pick up that Crashed Ironman...???
Seems like a few bidders pumped up the price.
jo
I am still POed about that auction. Bid retraction should not be allowed. It enables someone to figure out your high bid, and then plan accordingly. BS.
So what was the final price?
