Sounds good. Now, can you provide some directions from 395? Looks like 395 runs right into the Mammoth Lakes area, but from there to the campsite...?

yeah we are definately out
Ok, well, that sucks, but there will still be three of us, which is pretty sweet.
Beau, are you still planning on coming down Friday morning? We will probably still go down on Thursday night...unless you want us to wait.
Bart
Yeah, friday morning, if you feel like waiting great, if not it's no biggie. I just need an address for the gps. You still bringing your boat? I'm kinda on the fence on mine because it seems like a lot of hassle for something only one person can enjoy.
Can you search by name?
Twin Lakes Campground
or
Tamarack Lodge
or
Lakefront Resturant.
It really is very simple.
395 to the Mammoth Lakes turnoff (AKA Hwy 203)
At the first stoplight, 203 becomes Main Street once you are in Mammoth Lakes.
Go through town (1mile +-)
At the third stoplight, Main Street becomes Lake Mary Road.
Follow Lake Mary Road (3 miles+-) to Twin Lakes Campground exit on right.
You are there!
I provided the names of a lodge and resturant in the campground area just in case you can search by name.
One road (with 4 different names) off the 395 exit.
Best,
Thanks for the directions! We are THERE!
Ascinder, I am going to leave my canoe behind most likely. 3.5 hours is a long drive with it up top. I think this visit will be my exploratory trip and if there are some really sweet spots that I absolutely must canoe, I will bring it next time. I would mostly like to just hang out and hike around, and wheel a tad.
As far as driving down there, I think we will leave Thursday after work. Since I am paying for an extra night or two, I would like to make the most of it! Cool?
James, how have the mosquitos been down there? I went camping last weekend near Fordyce Lake and the skeeters were HANGRY! I wanna make sure I am prepared.
Bart
Oh, and by the way, I will have my Weber Baby-Q again so no need to bring a grill.
Bart
Hey!
Just scoped out the site again. The skeeters were not an issue @ the camp, but were hanging about @ water's edge. It looks like I will not have to "preres" two sites on Tuesday. All four of those sites are occupied, with one camper leaving Wed AM, and another Thursday AM. I am going to go snag those when they leave, so it will save everyone a few bucks.
Best,
Sweet, we will be down there Thursday night.
Bart
Great!
Looking forward to seeing you all. Got a new tent today and some other accsessories. Should be good times!
Best,
OK, I talked to Linda, and she said she would rather leave Friday morning also.
My brother also dropped out. So, it looks like Me and Linda, and Beau and Megan are still going. Linda said she would rather leave early on Friday morning, I am thinking on the road by 6am, which should get us there by 9:30.
James, are you planning to grab the sites on Wednesday or Thursday? I think 2 sites will be plenty for us, and we can split up the cost of the campsites once there.
Questions for James:
1) Do we need to bring firewood or is it readily available there?
2) I forget, does this campground have showers and toilets? Or just toilets?
3) How bad are the gas prices down there?
4) Any restrictions on dogs? We will have the chihuahua with us.
5) Is Mammoth Lakes in Mono or Tuolumne county?
I just looked at the weather, and it looks outstanding for the weekend. I can't wait!!!
Thanks! Bart
Greetings!
Looks like we will only need one spot, since we will have just three tents. That will help save some dough. I will be getting it on Thursday, a day early. It is spot 47C, marked A3 on the map I supplied earlier.
I will take care of the firewood.
Toilets only. Feel free to shower @ my pad, a few miles away.
Gas is aound 4.75 to probably hit 5 for the holiday weekend.
Dogs OK.
Mono County.
I will have at least one spare queen air mattress.
Best,
Nice!
PM'd you my cell number in case you need navigation assistance. I see ya Friday.
Best,
Hey guys I know we aren't going :( but i was reading through the posts and saw Bart asking about fire wood! Well with all the fires in California has someone checked on fire restrictions?? just a thought! Sorry we wont be there! Have fun and be SAFE!!!
Fight fire with fire I always say...
Serously, there are approved pits. Not an issue.
Best,
My brother is coming too, so it will be 4 tents in case that matters. I was planning on being on the road NLT 5:00, so we might beat you there. I know traffic could potentially be a nightmare.
Obviously, I won't be making it up. Have a blast and take pics.
Whenever I do make it back up to NorCal, I'll have to swing out to Reno for a meet up.
Cy
Site is paid for!
You will be missed CrnCnn and Cy.
See everyone else in the morning!
Best,
I just wanted to thank James for getting this past weekend organized. It was good to finally meet you and SnowTrooper Jr. Thanks, bro!
You're welcome to come up and stay in Reno anytime, just gimme a holler and we will set up some wheeling in the desert.
Bart
Sorry we missed it. It was nice to hang out with the family. Plus there were Fights this weekend.
Not to highjack.... Some coworkers want to go offroading soon. I have to fix my truck but I wanted to put it out there.
Just wait till you see the pics from the mountain we wheeled up yesterday!! But don't feel too bad, you also missed out on some awesome $5/gallon gas in Mammoth!
Yeah, I still really want to go find the Lagomarsino Petroglyph Site. Let me know when you are ready. You should talk to Beau, he was Clicky McClickerson all day yesterday. It seems you guys are both in the same CV boot boat. :) I just hope my boots last. James is gonna hafta come up for that with some 912s ready to install. :)
Bart
Cant wait for the pics....
Sounds like another trip will be in order.?.?.?.
Yea, then we can all change our CV boots out @ the same time;)
I think it will be some time b4 the lift, as I want to put the spare in the back seat area ala pre runner style, and can't do that till SnowtrooperJr can sit in the front.
I am processing trip pix, and will post some soon.
Just noticed this was my 400th post! Thanks for the inspiration, Bart & ldub;)

A mere 3,060 to go. Should hit that by next week;)
BTW, I am older than you, son.....
Strange, I remember driving over that standing rock in the second to last pic under Beau's front end and wondering WTH??
Great Pix!
I'll post mine one by one to bolster my count!
Best,
Nice. :bgwb:
So James, where are your pics? Come on, Bro! We're waiting!
Bart

OK, here is what I have...
Not too sure what possesed me to finally detail the Dragon the night before we went wheeling, but thanks for the Trim Shine tip, Bart!

I have been approached by my friends in the past few days telling me they saw a "squadron" of VX's driving through town.....:bwgy::bwgr::bgwp:
Here we are on approach to the trail on Sunday:

and the final shot I have to add, descending the same trail from the lake:

Again, I can't tell you how great it was for you to make the trek out here! I appreciate the brotherhood, and was happy to help make it come together. Hopefully we can at least get the entire Reno VX contingent next time!
Looking forward to coming out to Reno soon....
Best,
