I have the break light flasher (wasn't going to get it until I saw it on others' in Moab), and have (knock on wood) never had a problem in Chicago, Vegas, Colorodo, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Boston, etc. It may irritate some people (sorry Yal ;py; ), but the attention-getting benefits are worth it.
Oh, and the police issue... most are cool (and motorcycle/automobile enthusiasts too), and I'd rather have them than not. My friend Jenny got us pulled over for speeding in New York state, but the officer didn't say anything about the flasher (which he HAD to see 'cuz she stood on the brakes) and ended up letting us off. Kewl!
Yes, it did irritate my extremely :) but that's ok Gill. I realized that the more this thing is aggravating, the better it works. I might even go for it; since I noticed lately people on the road have tendencies to sit on my tail. Sometimes I am just waiting for someone to kiss my a#* and say hello to my tailgate. Maybe if they see something like this flashing, they will understand it means, "Back off". It worked for me, I did not want to follow you ;) Just kidding. Really, I just wanted to be in the middle :)
