OK, got the first coat of epoxy resin laid & am waiting for it to tack...:uhohgray:
Gonna proceed with the laying on of the fiber (carbon, that is...) in about ten min...:uhohgray:
Plz send all available good ju-ju & + vibes towards Fgo...:thanx:
Well...that was a complete F U B A R...:upsetgray
I got what I had comin', I guess...I shoulda known I would need a helper for the placement of the cf...:upsetgray
Now the GOOD news...:yesgray:
Due to the fact that I have a few friends around here, John (Rowhard) being one of the bestus...
I had a "plan B" to fall back on. After I F U B A R'd about $65.oo in REAL cf, I remembered that John had sent me (just cuz...for free, whatta guy) a good sized hunk of black fiberglass fabric.
Same 2x2 twill as cf, just a bit stiffer in the drape/flexibility dept.
John, ya saved the ol' dubsters bacon today...:thanx:
Actually, thanks isn't enough...
THANK YOU!!!
At the least, I'll always have a F'd-up piece of cf to remind me to slow down & maybe even ask for some help once in a while...or not...:slap:
Gotta go heat gun some bubbles...more later...:yesgray:
Sorry to hear about the CF...looking forward to seeing some pics though!
maybe ya shoulda used that 3m vinyl!!:yesy::bwgy::rotate::laughing::laughing::la ughing:
Ain it da troot...:yesgray:
Never met my Bro Tom face 2 face, but talk'd to him onna tele from time 2 time...:yesgray:
It ain't too difficult to tell were cut from about the same kevlar...:smilewink
I'd be willing to bet niether of us has taken any cred for others accomplishments , nor blamed the nearest passer by for our failures...:rolleyesg
HOWEVER, the learning process for us, is not so much a curve, as it is a nearly vertical straight line...:slap:...
Thread Jacking a Dub thread ... that's an oxymoron (sp?).
& Thanks.
FINALLY crossed the finish line with regard to...finish...:rolleyesg

Lookin' Dub.
Jo
Nice. The finish on my hood scoop gave me trouble too and I ended up getting it line-X'd after messing up the paint job. I don't know how your insert would have looked in CF but the satin black looks nice.
:thanx: fellers
I'm kinda liking it too, I even left just a hint of the weave showing through the bondo...just cuz...:smilewink
And if I decide that my sanity needs another challenge in the future, I've got enough resin to give it a go, + all I'd have ta do is sand it lightly & go...:naughty:
