Got bad news today ... but it coulda been worse ... much worse!

Secretary of the Army decided to suspend all personnel actions involving hiring and promotions for at least 30 days. It'll be sometime in March before I hear anything.

"coulda been worse"... yep, you coulda been part of a command that the SECDEF desperately wants to disestablish (like now!). Sigh. Resume writing and RIF classes are great motivators for serving the warfighters. Double-sigh.

PK - My retirement plan is very simple. I will retire exactly 2 weeks after my ex-wife dies. She got a part of my retirement in the settlement. It's not much (actually insignificant) but it's the principal of the thing.

I went through the RIF and no bonuses/pay raises in my company two years in a row. They actually "demoted" everyone in my group to paper-pusher job title, but we were grandfathered at our existing salaries. I was just happy to still have my job! We are hoping for both bonuses and pay raises this year.
