Dang!! I just tried to book a room at the Stoop, and they want $100 or more depending on the room type per night. Gave me the "Event" B.S. even when I asked about the Isuzu group that has been staying there for the last SEVERAL years, told them we are the event. Looks like I'll be sleeping elsewhere and commuting to the stoop.
Thats B/S Jay...unless all they have left is super swanky rooms....
...which they dont have anyway!
My room on the Stoop is $63 per night ...and IIRC, thats before discount.
Did you remind them about the VX group...15% discount?
Jo
You might give her a name or two and the rates they were charged and then ask if the lodge intends to charge a higher rate when those folks arrive in town. Ought to be an interesting answer...
I made res about 2 months ago and was told "$486.26 for 7 nights with the 15% discount"….although I just divided it out and it looks like it's $69.99 or $74.99 per night….I don't see any 15% discount….?????:eek:
I think that "total" he gave me was including tax etc…..so if that's the case, the nightly rate is even higher, more like $79.99/night…hmmmmmmmm??????:_thinking:_thinking:_thinkin g
I might call them and see if my quote is guaranteed…
oh…and "super swanky" can NOT be used in the same sentence when referencing "the Stoop"…LOL….unless you put a "NOT" in front of it….:laugho:
Off topic... Sue why do you have all these "?" in your post?
Bummer, I still need to make my reservations.
I'll call on Friday. Maybe i'll get someone else who will honor the group discount?
OK...seems there is a bit of conffffussssion at the Red Rock end.
Just talked to Natasha ( I'm guessing the girl others spoke to) and explained the deal I helped negotiate as part of the promotion
I do for them in the Calendar etc...and the large size of our party!!
Apparently Jeremy Day, the manager has not informed her of the VX rates and discounts.
I explained it all to her, and she said she will honor the rates we had before.
So..this means
NO event upcharge on Fridays or Saturdays
Normal room prices right through your stay.
15% Discount at end of stay.
==================
Room prices do vary according to style/location/and the number of beds.
Hope this helps...probably good to give her a call now !
RED ROCK LODGE...... 1-435-259-5431
Cheers
Jo
The "event" fees were probably in place because of the Moab Relay. I hate when hotels raise their rates for any event. It's not like you are not already helping their economy as it is when you are in town. It's simple price gouging. They do that a lot at Ironman races...especially in smaller towns :(
Booked! Thanks Jo, glad it was just confusion on their end.
I am booked too, but that chic would not acknowledge our vehicross rate, I told her the total is almost 200$ more than last year, no comment, so I just booked it and will call back and talk to the manager........maybe I get a fifty shades of grey with my room?? Lol
He77 Lisa...
..ya dont even need a room.
Dubs special chair...a blanket...all good!
Jo
i know its a stupid question but, moab utah right? dont wanna end up in mars......
2000 miles dam, talk about breaking her in hajaha
Sorry…OT..but TJ with a good cause...:mbrasd:
I've been wondering the same….:_thinking…been trying to figure out the pattern before I ask Scott.
Seems if I use more than 1 period in a row, the first one is the black diamond?, but …not always…. and some I can't ID a pattern..
Also getting some gobblygook characters like this: …
Last week I was getting like 5-10 in each post….
Now if I see them, I use "edit" to delete them…and sometimes they appear in another place after the edit….:_brickwal
I upgraded to Mountain Lion OS about a month or so ago, and have a few weird things happening here and there….mostly graphic type issues. Not sure if my graphics card is crapping out or what. Since these were characters I thought maybe it's related to my possible graphics card prob, AND HOPED THEY WEREN'T actually being seen by anybody but me….well…thanks for mentioning it Mav, now I know a little more info.
Let me know if you've seen those other 3 characters.
MAC people….HELP ME…:goof:
technocopy?
Wintermute?
Guess who's in room 104. Huh? Can you guess?
Here's a hint: he'll have Idaho air in his tires.
Who da ho?? Oh, you da ho...:slap: :rotate:
If a crown vic can make it through hells revenge I am sure the volva can too! :)
TO CONFIRM...
Just talked to Devon at Red Rock...

Call DEVON.. 1-435-259-5431
Invoke the VX deal...and get :-
No event fees
15% discount.
All good.
Jo
The AWD and traction control would easily let it do that if I had a bit more ground clearance and actually didnt give a crap about my car.
I'll be sure to leave you a present :P LOL
No bed bugs to report, so thats good.
WOOT!! Just booked Room 105 (I think) for the week. Check in Sunday, leave the following Saturday. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
Can we go now?
BOOM, finally booked.
Last room on the Stoop RM #101. :yesgray:
I be booked!!!!! Not sure what room it is but it's in the new part. Wish I could have gotten the same room as last year but its just me this year.
Can't wait to see everyone again!!
That's right everyone. Don't forget about the "Ice Cream Social" on Monday evening. Maybe we should change it to the "Moonkey Social" because that's about all the ice cream gets used for. Either way, it's a great time to meet everyone and totally geek out on our VX's. Always held in front of Unca Dub's room at The Stoop and usually around 7pm. I'lll start another thread for it as the time draws near.
I really want to go this year. As I mentioned in my "maybe" RSVP, my sister got me a gift certificate to rent a 4-wheeler (Razor thingy) out from Moab (she said it was all she could think of for the guy who has everything - I checked and am pretty sure some of my everything is missing! But it is a cool gift).
The problem is I am just starting back to work after more than a year off on awful medical leave, so I have zero vacation saved up (burned that before the medical leave kicked in) and am still only working half time. So I have to see how things go and measure the likelihood that my boss would approved the time off so soon after getting back. We are swamped at work, and they, in all modest, need me, since they hired a bunch of college grads that are willing but inexperienced mechanical engineers. I somehow became the wise old man of the engineering dept. Even my boss is two years younger and less experienced in oil and gas than I am. *sigh* (note: I am only 43)
What the situation with rooms? How many do you think are still available? Also, if I do go, my dad wants to come too. Which would at least be nice to have a second driver for the trip out and back.
Fingers crossed. I am just going to have to whip these green kids in to shape so they can do real work before May.
Call the motel, talk to Devon.
Thought a little graphic and pics would help the noobes get a feeling for the motel and "The Stoop".
The motel rooms are laid out as two separate rectangles, one story, and both sections face the parking lot in between the two.
Parking lot is only about 4-5 car lengths wide, so everything and everybody's rooms are really close by. There's parking spaces in front of each room.
The block of rooms with numbers 101 - 112 is the "older" motel, smaller rooms, very basic, lined up side by side by side, with a cement walkway /sidewalk along the front of the rooms.
The other block actually has two segments, #114 - 119, AND #120 - 125 one segment has 6 rooms then another straight segment has another 6 rooms, and an outdoor hot tub between them.
Each asterick is a room, the black parallel lines are the street along the front, and the red circle is the hot tub.
#112-------------------------------------#101
*********** ||
---------------------PARKING LOT-------------------------- ||

#125-------------#120-------#110---------------#114 ||
There's a little grassy/dirt area next to the end room #112 (LDub's) as well as a little extra paved area in front of that room that has a picnic table. Dub sets up his Choco Monkee making factory on the picnic table, and we all bring lawn chairs and set up along the walkway and the parking lot toward the end of the building?.and it's magically transformed into what is affectionately known as "The Stoop"
Can see the "older" section of motel to left:

And the other section, to the right:

Can see rooms behind my truck?think that's room 106.

Got the reservation amount all fixed finally! And got room 121 again, checkin sunday.....checkout friday.....
I remember being on the trails down in Moab back in the early 2000's in May and running across awesome Isuzu's all the time. Now that I'm the proud owner of a Trooper, I hunted around for this gathering and found it here.
I'm relatively new to Isuzu's, but not to Moab (been heading down there many times a year in Samurai's since 1993) and I'd love to tag along for this gathering if you'll allow another non-VX. :D
How is 'Zu Zoo structured? Do you guys have planned trails for each day or is it more of a wake up in the morning and figure out whats going on?
