Some more updates. Here is a set of one-off headers that found their way into my hands. Actually Matt at Indy4X had them, and hooked me up. I believe he said they were built by Bob Land. Couldn't swear to it though. Matt has been a major help on this project.

You should definitely run it open header.
you may want to look into this stuff, maybe you could get them to sponsor you or at least knock off some on the price. http://www.ultraeverdrystore.com/. since you have it all apart right now it would e so wild after going thru a mud hole and coming out clean at the other end. I have no affiliation with them and someone show it to me a work the other day.
Need to get some header wrap to help keep the underhood temps down.
Hatfield...most offroad races it is illegal to run open headers...fire danger.
Buffy have you thought about doing any of the W.E.ROCK stock class events?
I have not thought about running that series. They run alot of the same venues as ECORS.
Now some updates. I have the rear axle ready to install.... well once I get it all painted up with some Extreem Chassis paint.
Heavy duty gussets....

12 bolt... 5:38s... ARB....

All put together. Ready for paint then install.....

All painted and ready for install. Just need my new rod ends and I will be installing. I will be using 4 inch front TJ spings to provide the lift for the rear. Not sure how it is going to work out but the spring is the exact size as our stock springs.

Nice...especially the 5.38's with ARB's...
...from Matt I pressume
Dont want to rain on your parade...but with the lack of spares
for the 5.38s....dont blow one !!
:_steering:clap::_steering
Jo
Does not apply to Buffy's front diff....not an suzu 10 bolt any longer! :DQuote:

Yea there is some concern on the spares. Hopefully the 12 bolt is stout enough to hold up. It is a stout ring gear, now I've bent the housing but the third member has held up great. If I kill the 12 bolt then I may go with a Dana 60 or 14 bolt.
Spider 9? :)
You could always cyro your R&P for added strength.
Man wouldn't that make a killer sponsor!
need to pant the front corners black to match the rest of the cladding.
I don't know a nice pin stripe wouldn't be bad......;)
Well I have the motor, tranny, and transfer case installed. The rear with all new links is in. Man those race tires look sweet under there! Next up is to finish up the 5 speed conversion and install the headers. I am also going to build a custom trans mount and do away with the factory setup. No more broken rusty bolts! I will be sure to take some pictures of that when I finish, plush the ground clearance should improve. Took a measurement and I have 22 inches of ground clearance to the bottom of the rock sliders.
lol you know what I ment..lol
Awesome! I was wondering when you were going to be getting them. Andy is a great guy to work with.
Thought I'd give you guys an update. I finally got my truck back on four wheels today and to say I am proud is an understatement! After months of hard work my parter and I had to sit down and take in what we've created. I ended up with about 8 inches of lift. For a comparison a stock oil pain is 10 1/2 inches of clearance, the Rover has 18 3/4 inches of clearance. I still have to finish plumbing the brake lines, install the shocks which will have 14 inches of travel front and rear, and some other final details. It has come a long way in a couple weeks.

Holy crap that thing is a monster!! I can't wait until I retire and get a grown up job!
Completely Awesome!
Can't wait to see some more videos of your racing.
still need to PAINT the front area were the cladding is missing ..black
Vicious!!!!!!
Thought I would share a picture of my new front shocks. I sat them next to a stock VX for scale.

:drool2:
Those should be awesome on the track...
Thought I'd take a quick moment and post a couple progress pictures. Lots of changes made to the truck since my last post. We are now running a full hydro steering setup. I plan on making my first race of the season on July 6th at Devil's Playground in Ashboro, NC. Last year DPG was VERY unkind to my truck. I finished the race but limped away after sustaining major damage to my body and frame. But here are the update photos.

VX looks sic, B! What all do you need to get done before the 6th then? I cannot wait to see some action pics!!!
so were you able to make it to race?
Any updates Buffy? Did the VX perform the way you expected on the track?
2014 Update.........
We had our first race of the season over the weekend. There were 2 races, the first was a long 2 hour endurance race where you were racing the clock. The second was an intense 30 minute dash that was started motorcross style with lots of bashing and rubbing. I took 2nd in the first race and third on the second. I was down on power due to damage to the gass tank. I finished the weeking 2nd over all for the stock modified class.
shameless plug.... I could really use a rolling chassis to build a new truck this one has been beat to a pulp and has a bent frame. Anyone interested in hooking a racer up? Calling hcloud13..... :bgwb: did get lots of coments that it was awesome to see something other than a jeep racing and it is the favorite rig on the circuit. Was told even if I didnt do good I would still look cool!
Can anyone guess which one is the race truck???

Awesome!!!!!
First off, good look'in race car. sorry you twisted it. did you learn anything so it will be stronger and won't happen again.
Vehicross Family, he's putting the VX out there on his own.
pretty sure Buffy would say hell no, but maybe we can talk about setting up a annual kitty to buy some race parts for the cause,.... get A Vehicross dot Info Sticker on his race car.
will give this a bump in a few weeks, know everyone is MOAB crazy:_beer::_beer::dan_ban::dan_ban:;puke2;:dance : some more
