I'm just saying, for the amount of HP, you sacrifice fuel, no matter what you drive.
From what I've seen (previously posted dyno charts), with the s/c & 5 lb. (boost) pulley, just a shade over 200 hp @ the wheels (tires).:_wrench:Quote:

I've wondered the same thing. I have never seen mine come on either. And that said, about 5 months after I bought my VX, I ran the gas down REALLY far. Like, below that last marker line, and the light STILL did not come on. But what did come on, was my check engine light. Not only that, my VX was running REALLY BAD. I was scared to death there was something majorly wrong. This was before I had a scan guage, so I do not know what code it was throwing. Anyway, I limped it home from the store parking lot where it started running rough and the CEL came on. After that, I changed the spark plugs with no change. I then took it to the closest gas station, filled up with a full tank of premium and used some of that tank additive that removes moisture from the gas tank. The CEL went off immediately and my VX never chugged like that again. Since then, I never let the tank indicator get below the last line. My feeling is that I got down to the last couple of gallons in the tank and started to suck up water or something. This caused the CEL and the rough running. I don't know why the low gas light never came on.Quote:

This is with conventional gas and 4 oz of Acetone. Obvious improvements but not enough. I would like to see in the 360s or so. But my tank and computer still need seasoning so I think by the 5th tank I will have my best output yet. I am currently on my fourth tank. This 345 is with some of the worse traffic yet calculated in it. It is Derby week around here for those of you that are familiar with the best 2 minutes in sports and this week = horrible traffic. I was in bumper to bumper for over an hour two days this week.
This came from 20.06 gallons of gas. =17.25 quite and improvement over my almost 10 mpg a year ago.

You guys really need to try Lucas Gas treatment. My wife and I almost always get 370 miles on on a 20 gallon fill up. Also, beware of ethanol, it will spoil your mileage. Honda does not recomend ethanol for any of its vehickes sold in New York State. Exxon/Mobil around here does not offer ethanol mixes so we stick with them, no matter what the cost.
I am lifted with larger tires, that is the resoning behind some of my troubles.
i only get around 260 a tank, thats 12 miles per gallon, so if i put ethanol it will help?

maybe im not sure, how do i know whats normal and whats excessive?
Just wondering if you are running rich, I was and had to replace my fuel pressure regulator. Do a serach and see if you can open it up and check the condition.
Pepino, something is waaaay wrong - your mileage should not be that bad no matter how fast you drive. I drive ~90 mph on the highway to VT and I get at least 13 mpg.
If you have an oiled air filter (like a K&N) then you should clean replace your Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF or MAS). It measures the air coming into the engine, which the ECU uses to decide how much gas to squirt into the cylinders. The FPR regulates the pressure of the fuel in the lines, which also affects how much gas goes in. If either one of those is off, so will your fuel mixture.
You can get a new or rebuilt MAF at AutoZone, or you can use CRC MAF cleaner.
i thought i got average miles per tank (260) but if you think that i am that bad then i must be really bad lol
i have the normal filter the one that come stock of course i check it all the time and its perfectly clean, one time i got only 153 miles per tank thats like ifi was driving a ferrari!! but then i changed fuel filter and it went up to 260 and its been around there all the time!
what can i do! where can i find a fuel pressure regulator? how much are they? i know nothing about car mechanics i am 19 and have no idea about anything of this stuff, back in mexico i never had to change oil or fix anything as soon as there was something wrong my dad sent the cars to get fixed so your help is appreciated
Sorry to alarm you Pepino - I thought you were getting 150 miles per tank regularly. 260 miles per tank is about right if you drive hard on oxygenated (10% ethanol) gas like I do.
If you don't know your way around an engine, then changing the FPR is no place to start learning. Any mechanic should be able to take care of it for you - an hour's labor to install it plus the part, which you could get at an Isuzu dealer, online, or from an AutoZone or other parts store. It may help, it may not.
Do a search on here about the fuel pressure regulator.
I disagree - It is a very SIMPLE instal. The hardest part of the install is getting an allen wrench to turn the rear bolt (honestly).
It is about $70 bucks and if you can get the allen bolt off it takes no more than 20 minutes. I did this install and I am no mechanic.
I jumped from about 10 mpg to about 14-15 with just that. I am now running 17.5 average - and dont forget I am lifted with bigger tires.

Man, I've done that before. I know for sure that one 340 miles tank was not an illusion. But, now with the lift and new tires, I will be happy with 250 a tank.

J, is that straight highway miles, or day to day driving?
I drive from souther Indiana to Louisville Kentucky everyday. The commute there is about 45 minutes the commute home is about an hour and 15. Highway miles to bumper traffic near the bridge that crosses the Ohio River.
Great point is I am lifted and running bigger meat (265-75-16)

weird thing is... it filled up with just under 20 gallons :confused: so if i had stayed on the free way i coulda made it to Santa Barbara.... that woulda been 350 on the trip-o-meter...

I'm not sure I get it, I'm about as stock as can be except recently for performance muffler and green air filter. I'm not lifted, don't have oversized tires, anything. Fluids have been changed, I feel I drive smart and most of the mileage is highway. I've gotten to 300 maybe twice since I've owned it and I consider 270 good and average for me. What gives? How are you guys getting over 300 and some up to mid-300? My mileage ranges 16-17, occassionally 18 but that's it. Yea, I've got higher mileage than most (92k) but would that come into play? I'm stumped and a little aggravated to boot! Especially as gas gets more costly....
yea joe i hear you.. a lot is driving style/area.. my mods are intake and muffler.. plus i have a light rack.. but other than that nothing else.. i was getting 300-350 when i first bought it.. then dropped to like 250... at one point i was averaging 12mpg living near the city.. since moving out of the city i average about 15.. just by being throttle conscious i have gotten up to 16
try replacing your fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter.. the two together will cost about a tank of gas and should be good for 1-2mpg difference even if yours arent totally shot
gets you further on a tank but no difference in mpg. I think we hav an 18 gallon tank but some here report pumping 20 gallons in when empty. That 2 gallons can mean an extra 30 miles and how far do you let the tank get to empty before filling can be another dozen or two miles.
For some reason, I thought we had a 21 gallon gas tank. I remember it being the same volume as my RX7 which is 21. I know my last fill up was a hair over 20 gallons (on fumes), prior to that, it was 19.2.
we have a 22.5 gallon tank.. ive filled up with as much as 21 gallons before.. topping off will actually decrease your fuel economy sometimes..
filling the neck of your gastank will get charcoal from the charcoal canister into your gas.. and its downhill from there
