BAH late to the party. I saw this news else where. Glad your still going. Also like everyone said before your more than welcome as my copilot.
I'm just happy to see that your still going to come out :_beer:
You know we can always find a co-pilot seat in this group :)
Jo,
Have a safe trip.
Peace.
Tom
Joe, is this related to you 4.77 swap or do you just think it is something that happened?
Bart
Jo,
Is the ORW back on the road again?
Hiya Larry...
The ORW is not talking to me...
...somebody told her I drove a jeep for two days.
She's pissed!
Gonna have to buy her new shoes, probably a new outfit and no doubt ....
....some elective surgery to her rear end .... just to placate her !
Right now she's pushing me around town in 2wd...the rear 4:77 third is a mess...
...blown bearing, chipped gears...general destruction
Will start looking for 'the cure' next week....
Jo
Jo,
Can you give an explaination of what exactly happened and how you think it can be avoided? I have a pair of 4.77s here for my VX, and I do not want them to blow up!!
Bart
Will do Bart...
...as soon as I figure it out!
Early diagnosis is tending towards...
Damaged Pinion bearing.
( garage that helped..#well..I helped them!#... made an error..
moved VX without rear seal/nut or drive shaft.....causing rear pinion
to rotate out of alignment, and the diff to lock up...very possibly
damaging pinion bearing)
Overtightened pinion nut on new crush washer.
Unbalanced rear drive shaft, causing seals to blow.
CSI ( catastrophic immobility investigation)...continues!
To be safe though Bart.......
.....best thing for you to do...
...is send me yours :p
Jo
If I wanted to make you really jealous, i would send you a photo of the two pairs I have sitting on my garage floor right now. ;)
One pair is going in the VX, and the other pair is going in the 91 with ARBs, hopefully.
So wow, lots of stuff to consider installing these, not just as simple as putting them in and being done. I thought the rear though was the easy one and the front one is the tricky one where you have to adjust the backlash, etc with that new crushwasher...???
Bart
Ah yes Bart, however.....
Had I said "I am at a loss for words" ....
I clearly wouldnt of been....
