Yeah, I like the whole making more with less thing of a turbo 4. I'm ready for you to get the kinks out and fire it up.
Looks like you'll need to cut that pipe and shorten it up and run it under the water line to clear the fans, but I dunno...
Good luck, and hurry up. :bgwb:

The manufacturer suggested I return it and get a pipe made for a different car that has a connection in the middle of that pipe and is a bit shorter. But it will cost me $50 to get that pipe, when I can just get the shop where I work to cut out a couple inches of length and weld the pipe back together.
Other than that it's just finding time and energy to get it finished now!

It's ALIIIVE! I know it's not road ready, but getting closer and closer.

I hope the audio works... can't hear anything on this work computer.
-
Oh, YEAH, the audio WORKS! Just about blew out my computer speakers! My cat ran away!!! :yesy:
-
LoL!
Glad to hear the noise is doing some good then:D
It's about that loud in person too. My dogs flipped when I got it started the first time.

I've been working on it, just not much that can be seen. Took out a lot of the excess wiring from the passenger compartment, engine bay and so on. Removed all the stuff that would make this car any sort of luxurious like the window's, electric door lock and mechanisms, window tracks and motor, glass, all speakers and the CD player head unit, all related wiring, and had my first attempt at shaved door handles/locks. I'm deffinantly on the track to make this car a rat rod. I'm excited now since I have made up my mind on a direction to take the car in.
Started by cutting the slots out where the door handle went

Then I used this super cheap metal mesh stuff from Bondo, along with some body filler to fill in the hole.

Did the same with the hole for the antenna and the driers side door of course

and went ahead and make a quick pass with some cheap-o primer to cover the raw metal

More progress to come. I'm gonna start searching for a door popper that will work on the hatch so I can smooth that key hole out as well.

Thought this was a VX rear speaker at first glance...
-
I can see the resemblance!
I got a lot more done, primered the whole car yesterday and the inside of the drivers door and the door jamb on that side as well. I have to order the real paint soon and maybe I'll be able to find a key less door popper that I can use on the trunk.

I have been working like a turtle on this, but at least it's a constant slow pace! Only really have a few hours each weekend to get much done with it.
I did get the new ECU ordered and will be assembled this weekend and shipped soon after. This thing is really neat, it's going to run on speed density so I can toss that crap VAM, and has a feature called VE Live autotuning, where I enter basic values and then turn on the VE Live function and take off down the road. The comp will automatically make adjustments to get the air/fuel ratio to where it needs to be. I can also run any size injectors I want, and any time I make a major change, like new head or big cam or turbo I just change a few tables to richen it up a little, turn on VE Live and head on down the road. Takes only a few seconds of running at each RPM level for the comp to "fix" it!
I also made this at work!
Moved the 2 gauges from the pillar to where the radio used to be. I started with a shiny, nicely cut 8"x3" piece of stainless I found at scrap at work. Turned into this with a plasma cutter, hammer, and some drimmel cut off wheel scars! I LOVE the way it looks!

I plan to leave the 3rd hole empty as I don't really need another gauge in there, and I really like the way it looks unfinished and raw!

tore up from the floor up....
beat up from the street up.......

U tryin to say my car looks cracked out?!?
-
HAHA! Looks like a Joe Dirt Rape Hatchback! :D
-
Ha! You've been sitting on that one for a while, huh?
-
Dash insert sorta matches the ultra fine finish on the steering wheel spokes.
Gotta go with the theme.
