I asked them about doing the steering wheel when I was in there, and they gave me a guys number here in Houston to call about it. I will let you know when I finally get around to calling the guy. My steering wheel is getting a little ragged as well.

for redoing steering wheels
heres an subaru svx interior we did a few yrs ago
I dont see why we couldnt do a nice match for the
Vx too.
Armrest will be sent off tomorrow. Thanks again for this service!!!
BTW
What is the armrest assembly worth? What do I insure it for?
Thanks
TYler
Vehi-Cross-Az, I was interested in recovering the steering wheel only because the factory red sections of the steering wheel are worn. Since you have the same color interior/steering wheel, they can at least physically see it and let you know if they get close on the color so it does not stand out like a sore thumb versus the rest of the interior (seats and door panels). There was a VX thread for a company (I think it was Wheelskins)that you can get the material to recover your steering wheel and I ordered the samples. They came in and the red was way too "red" compared to our interiors. There were no other choices to even "get close." Ours is more orange/red if you know what I mean. I am glad you have the same interior so maybe they can get the swatch to get very close to match the rest of the interior. Let me know and thanks once again!
BTW-The Subaru interior looks bitchin but they did the seat inserts and steering wheel at the same time in the same color.
The shop here in Houston had a huge sample binder thing I flipped through until I found a grey that matched mine. I am sure a local upholstery store could help you out.
Hey Bart
did you get your armrest back yet that I sent you ?
Tyler, Ill keep my eyes out for yours coming in.
As for the steering wheel situation, Im pretty sure I can
redo any of ours with a great match to the OE colors.
I have a nice stock used black and red Vx steering
wheel on the shelf too.
I am interested in the used black/red steering wheel you have on the shelf. Do you have any pics of it to send me and what kind a price you lookin to get for it? Here is my office email to send pics: lsuarez@landrovermiramar.com
Thanx!
My apologies to Dayle for not posting sooner, just been real busy.
Anyway, got my armrest back and it looks and feels great! No more scratchy elbows!!
Now to get the rest of my VX looking new!

I received my armrest back about 2 weeks ago. I love it HOWEVER the underside is now cracked which was not craked before. I sent an email but have not heard anything back yet so.....
The black plastic piece that is the entire underside is cracked (very bad) at the front of the armrest where the armrest closes its latch. If you lift the armrest you will see how the upholstry/fabric (whatever you want to call it) is wrapped under this plastic. This plastic is cracked so back it's about to come apart. It looks as though when it was reassembled that it was screwed on to tight.
I didn't ask for a new armrest in return and would never expect that but I was hoping that a replacement plastic (whatever the part is called) would be replaced. I will send another email in hopes that we can get it resolved.
Other than this (which is a big deal especially if it comes apart), the armrest is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. In fact it looks factory it's so perfect.
Tyler
Yeah Tyler,
When I removed my armrest before sending it, I also removed the black plastic piece from underneath. Even prior to sending mine, the rear part of it was cracking apart. I took some thin metal and epoxied it over the cracking area to reinforce it. IMO, I would not say Dayle is at fault here, because it is obvious this piece of plastic has some sort of deteriorative quality. Mine was almost crumbling away and VERY fragile.
I really don't think a replacment will be found. If this was a part we could order from Merlin, I would imagine the armrest itself would also be a separately available piece, which it is not. I was actually thinking of getting some thin metal and seeing if I could bend it and form a complete replacement.
Bart
Yeah my black plastic cracked upon reassembly I don't think anyone is at fault an 8 year old piece of very thin plastic should be expected to be near useless.
