Todd,
Any clue's for us about the VX run...getting psyched!
Okay... so long time since I posted anything anywhere. Been a crazy couple years.
So anyway, it is with mixed emotions I report that I was able to fanagle a way to moab this year for visiting with a lot of yall. Unfortunately, Loco is still down, she will not be making the trip.
Needs a tranny replacement and a new axle shaft (will do both while I am in there).
But I lost my job 3/2, Tia lost hers 3/31. I picked up a contract position that could turn perm, could end at any time, I just don’t know. She is still looking and we are hopeful that things shake free soon. I am a project engineer/manager in electronics/electrical discipline (specializing in audio/visual, with experience in DC power, and telecommunications). She is in the finance/accounting world, with audit, AP, corporate training, Oracle, systems conversions, and management experience.
Cant make the trip and fix the Amigo. We desperately need a change of scenery so we thought that the trip and visiting with old friends would be worth making the trip. We will head out on Thursday 5/14 after work/school, and arrive late 11p-12a is the window I am targeting. Don’t think we will hit the road until 5ish. We will return on Monday 5/18.
So looking forward to seeing everyone and chillaxin. So, we will be lookin for open seats for Tia, Kyren (15), and myself. Would like to ride along on some trails, and if not, we will chill around town or hit the parks and hike. Either way we will be havin a break from the job boards and stresses of everyday life.
Shoot me a msg and let me know if you would be willing to share a seat in your rig. We don’t all have to be in the same rig, but would like to stick together on the same trail.
I can offer my spotting expertise (far from the best, but fairly decent) :D, trail knowledge ( I have done a LOT of those trails and know them well, including some off the beaten path off shoots), and comedic relief. 8)
Like I say, I have no clue who will and wont be there this year, as I have been away for quite some time. We decided to do a road trip to Oregon last year, 4235 miles. Will bring laptop and drive to show pics. It was an awesome time. Regardless, we will have a good time.
So that’s my $5 post. I have been saving pennies for a long time.
Keith
Well, one less thing to worry about. The day before I went to Uwharrie, my VX overheated. It continued to do so the whole trip, I was running the defrost on high to keep temp below 225. Today I replaced the fan clutch, now it sounds like a semi!!!! I love it, temp, not a degree over 178, just like it should be, but boy is the VX loud now. I think my clutch has been bad for some time. Can't wait to see everyone, still lookin into the hats, but I dont think it will be before then.
Keith, great to hear from you! I'm very sad to hear the news about you and Tia job market sucks right now. My Bro-in-law is now living with us due to the same circumstance. I'll keep my ear and eyes open. Glad you are coming to Moab, we'll have a blast!. I know there will be some extra seats.
keith, good to hear from you! that news really is too bad...both your rig and your family.
im sure we can find you some seats in moab, there are quite a few of us.
i dont have any room in my VX, but please let me know if i can help you in any other way, we dont live all that far from each other. dont know what i could do for you, but the offer is there if you need something
I am not sure what you are driving up, pending the trail, my Expedition might be available for you to drive. I woudn't take it anywhere crazy that actually needs 4wd, but if a stock VX on bald tires can make it, a lifted Expy on 33" procomp AT extremes can. Just don't tell my wife...;) Plus it can seat like 40 people (6 actually, I put captains chairs in the middle row).
So is it worth a 17 hour drive just to make the VX only Tuesday:confused: Very very tempted
Yes! Yes! and oh yeah....Yes!
Peace.
Tom
Excellent Todd. The trail sounds great.
Just make sure that if there is a tough obsticle there is enough room for you to walk next to me and hold my hand while I go through it. (I know somebody has a picture of that from last year)
Back on subject; on top of leading us through some great trails, Todd always gives a little history of the region and some of it's features as we go. So, on top of it being fun, and a bit of an adrenaline rush, you get a little trivia and education along the way.
Plus, it's just cool to see VX's stretching out in front and/or behind you.
Speaking of CB; since I installed one in my VX this year I will bring my hand held so that anyone who doesn't have one can use it on the trails.
MS, am seriously thinking of make the trip, but for the Tuesday VX only run. If I do, I would like to take you up on the offer, one less expense for me. I will know this Friday if I get the time off.
rowhard, the CB is yours if you do make it. It would be great to finally put a face to a name that I have seen on this site for many years.
What's 20 hours of driving among friends?
No pressure.
Row,
No need to worry. Moncha's VX is about as clean as they come and he has survived many a ZuZoo's. There are some good spotters out there always willing to lend some help...just got to give a holler!
A VX garage sale doesn't sound horrible. I have a few isuzu center caps, factory airbox and intake with K&N drop in, the factory shocks go to Tom if he brings beer;). I will bring 4 tubes of aquapel, PBkid and Bart got first dibs on those from a while back. I have been toying around with the idea of getting rid of my front plastic piece. Not sure what one of those go for, but I am looking at having Joe Darlington make me a custom bumper. Once we have my bumper made, it will be a template for others that would like a Warn type solid metal bumper with winch mount. As far as I know, there are none right now.
If anyone else has VX "junk" bring it...
THIS is the Red Rock...

Not the Ritz, but a couple notches above "shantytown"...:smilewink
ZEUS!!! When are you heading down?
Red Rock Inn

rowhard, good to see that plans are in the works. Should one of us call work pretending to be somebody important to say that you need some time off to make it to Moab?
Kodiak, I think Zeus is meeting the CoZuvoy in Glenwood Springs (or Grand Junction, I can't remember which) on Monday the 11th. You're welcome to join us too, but it might be a little out of your way.
Moab weather is looking good right now. Lets hope it stays about the same.
Anyone in the Salt Lake area headin out on the 11th? I will be in Salt Lake on the 10th...
