Not the direction I would go, but a nice build all the same.
Considering the 4k curb weight, I can't say I don't see the appeal! To be honest, I have a 383 stroker build in my Corvette. I wish the SAME engine was in my VX. It would be more "nibble" AND the .5 ratio (double) overdrive transmissions would have it's MPG advantages in as well. IOW, I could get the same/better mileage with a huge bump in giddy-up-ness!
(FWIW, my Vette's 5th gear is a .75 overdrive. It's a ZF6 which I'd ALSO like to have in the Isuzu).
Post was deleted, but I can't say I'd give up the AWD and TOD--regardless of how powerful the new engine is. The problem with the VX is the dated transmission, not the powerplant. Many 90's automatics suffer from the same 4-speed relative lackluster performance.
Personally I like the TOD, and I am doing whatever ic an to keep it. The way I see it, it is part of what makes a VX special.
