Looking to buy
Greetings all, I am currently in the market for my first VX. I figured I would post here since it seems to be the place to do so. This will also be a project vehicle.
Intended use: daily driver/adventure rig
Must haves:
- TOD working (mostly. I can do a lot repairs myself, but I don't want to have to do a complete re-install, and really without TOD I should probably just get a Jeep or some other vehicle)
- Running condition
- Clean title
Modifications are ok, to a point. I am not looking for a super off-road rock crawler. If the fenders had to be cut to fit tires, I am probably not going to be interested, but a winch mount or brush gaurd should be fine.
I currently live in the Augusta, GA area so something within say 500-600 miles would be great, but I can travel for the right VX. So far I have had two potentials fall through. I am waiting to hear back on one more, but I don't even know if that one is still available so I am throwing this out there.
I would like to keep the budget under $6,000 if possible.
Thanks for any replies.

I'll caveat that "cut fenders" may mean a variety of things. I had to rim 1/2" from the inside corner to fit my wheels...and the difference is imperceptible to virtually anyone but someone looking for it.

Have a low miles (75000) Ebony 2001 in Grand Rapids, Michigan for sale.

That's a bit far away for me. Really I need a 1999 model year for the project I am planning. I suppose I should have started with that. Thank though.
-
why a 99, if you don't mind me asking? Only the wheels and the a/c unit were different, iirc.
-
Because of the Cummings R2 program. I will be looking to do a turbo diesel conversion, but only if the techs can find a way to keep the TOD working. 1999 is the newest model year they are certified for emissions compliance.

I have a 99 I maybe willing to part with for the right price everything EVERYthing works mi is 106,000 or there about

Actually in the middle of working out a purchase, if it doesn't' work I may hit you up.

OK, so I have a firm deal in place. Picking up a trailer to drag it home (bad transmission apparently) in the morning then I am off to get my first VX! YAY!
-
Hopefully there won't be much holiday weekend traffic you have to fight.
Safe travels.
