BIG tires and a big problem

I put a nice BF Goodrich A/T 265/76/16 on aftermarket rims and got a problem. I got enough clearance there wihtout a lift, even though my VX is now about 2" taller thah others. The problem is they are too - IMHO - close to the front part of the caldding. Cladding got cut about 1/8'', well - trimmed enough so I can turn without rubbing, but what could happen if I go off road? How much room do I need between tire and the front cladding, so I do not take the whole thing off or destroy tires or anything else that can happen?

I havent done major of roadin yet (i will tomorrow @ Joe's) ;Db; But umm yea i have yet to even hear/feel any type of rubbin with the off roading, hard cornering, hitting bumps and so on in the road that i have done so far. I doubt you should have any problems off roadin though...x

I seen Yal's tires, they are close but yours must be wearing into cladding nicely. :D

I guess I loose competition here ;)

I (and others) have installed 33s and had to trim almost 2 inches off of the cladding, but it's all underneath so it really isn't obvious.

This is the only pic I could find with a semi-close-up. As you can see, if you cut the cladding in a nice sweeping arc, it looks fine. Again, my tires measure 32.8 inches, so you probably wont have to trim as much.

As far as offroading goes, the fronts don't bottom out at all, it's the rears that rub in my experience. Try it out, if it rubs, lower the rear bump stops an inch.

I didn't want to actually cut so much, that's why I am a little scared to go off road with so little room for them.
