x2- you home and OK? Where's your sister's house with Dottie?
X3
I was in Shawnee in December, so the news yesterday and today definitely caught my attention.
Thank you, gang, I'm safely out of state and Dot the Dog is vacationing about 100 miles outside of OKC. All of the damage was on the opposite side of town about 15 miles away from where I live. I got word from a third party that my best friend & his family are safe. I'm anxiously waiting to hear news about a coworker that nobody has been able to contact. Phone lines in the metro are overwhelmed so it's rare that calls get through. Also waiting to find out if another friend still has a house. A couple hours ago I heard she was stuck in a traffic jam on the highway near her home. I hate being out of town during all of this. Not that there's anything I could do, I just want to be there.
Glad your ok, Jay is safe too, just horrible these disasters!
Yeah we're all good here. Thanks for all the concern and calls/posts/texts/etc. Glad you and yours are OK too Rick. I watched the whole thing on the tube from spin up to roping out and it was impressive and terrifying at the same time. That was a huge tornado and debris cloud.
Glad to hear all Y'all OK's are OK...yeh, it was intended.
All best wishes to those still unaccounted for!
Didn't miss my best friends house though. His family was safe and he was at work but it just shredded his house and neighborhood. He lived about 1/8 of a mile east of the school that is missing people. Everything is gone. Sad:(
I hopped on my FZ6 and rode as far as they would let me then walked to make sure other friends houses were ok. A friend of a friends house was eliminated and just across the street buddies house had some tree damage. We cut up the tree and moved debris along with his car that had a piece of street light through the windshield and dash away from his garage so he could get his vehicle out.
I am currently without power so sleeping in a humid house is not cool. But at least I have a house......
Scary Stuff!!!
Glad you guys are OK. Prays for those who were less fortunate.
Scott
Can't really add to the comments above. Our prayers are with you.
Indeed..VERY GLAD YOU GUYS ARE OK.
Jo
Very Glad you all are ok.
I've finally got word that all my acquaintances who I was worried about are all OK and their homes are unharmed. I just wish there was better news for those who suffered losses.
A friend who lost her home to a tornado a couple years ago wanted me to pass this on:
If anybody is wondering about the best way to help out during a situation like this, a donation to Red Cross is a sure bet. They are ALWAYS allowed to get into damaged, restricted areas. (Often the police shut down neighborhoods to discourage looky-loos and looters and you can't get in without an escort from someone who lives in the affected area.) The Red Cross regularly stopped by offering food, water & supplies for official and volunteer clean-up crews. You would never believe how much that is appreciated.
