I seriously wonder about rule #4 under "Exclusions" which might somehow elude to our VX engines being poorly built by Isuzu as a way for Valvoline to have a loophole out of its guarantee and not pay for a claim.
In other words, Valvoline would later say to you-- "Go after Isuzu Corporation with your blown engine complaint, because we are not gonna' pay up based upon historical data of the oil consuming Isuzu 3.5 V-6 engine". They would just use their high paid corporate lawyer's at Valvoline to dig up all of the many complaints on the internet (including right here on VX.Info) about Isuzu engines consuming oil at higher than normal consumption rates.
You would then find yourself at a decision cross-road of either paying a hometown lawyer $3K to fight Valvoline head-on (with little chance of winning, but you'd still have to pay your lawyer regardless); or, just go ahead and pay the same $3K to have a mechanic fix your VX (the lesser of two evils).
Remember; Valvoline is in business to take your money by selling you repetitive oil changes and fill you with false hope, and not pay-out a penny unless 100% of the criteria is met within the guarantee polcy. IMHO, the guarantee is a scam that is written too vague with too many loopholes. Just my 2-cents.

However it is a situation where it might as well be used. If I am changing my oil, might as well buy Valv. and hope for the best.
as always read the fine print. I checked it out the engine needs to be non operating. If it runs but will not move the car no go. It has to be the result of the oil failing not anything else. So over heating, no cooling, no leaks etc. You also have to prove you changed with Valvoline every 3000 miles with a small margine of like 1000 miles. Who knows what else they have in the rules/
I thought the engine had to be run on Valvoline from the very first oil change and that you needed proof of that through receipts. It really is Valvolines marketing ploy to get people to use thier product from day one of a new car purchase, lifetime customers...

I understand your thoughts JH, seems easy enough to sign up, log your oil changes, keep receipts, yadda yadda yadda, but honestly, I wouldn't even waste my time with it..... and I don't want to use that oil anyway.
I do all that record keeping anyway.

I actually read it and there is wiggle room. Loss of engine oil does seem to be a reason for denying coverage, but if oil is checked frequently and topped off then it should hold. Give the small number of Isuzu engines and the likely probability that most engine failures fall outside their warranty, it seems to me that if someone is religious about changing their oil and can document it Valvoline would rather pay the $5,000 than have the bad publicity.
How much extra would it cost to use Valvoline, if you're going to change your oil and filter every 3500 miles or so anyway?
Its a decent oil, though if something else is on sale like Quaker State I prefer to have the option. As for bad publicity well they wouldn't like it but how many newspapers would carry the story or how many web sites can you post on and would people read it?Quote:
