So i have heard many people from southern illionis say that they would like to get together, some people from Indiana too and ofcourse myself from Wisconsin. So i thought why not start planning it now.
I am in Mexico untill the end of august and i would like to get together before classes start on September so what do you all think? Whatever date works for you i am pretty sure i can fly back and make it.
I couldn't make it until Sept. 20th. Working weekends... :( . If we are going to be having a meet farther South, I may just have to take some time off to meet all those that haven't been able to make it up North. I'll keep looking at this thread to see how it goes.
ya date is not set, whenever more people can come. So most likely it will be in September, how does that sound Southern illinois people and Indiana people, Iowa, missouri???
Any thoughts on where you might hold this?
I am still figuring it out, probably central or southern illinois, i dont know yet, there doesnt seem to be much interest so far. But like i said date is not set, actually nothing is set haha this is just to see how much interest there is so that i we can all plan it out to what works best for us.
It would always be a possibility for me. I guess it would just depend on how far south in IL people would be willing to drive. It's about 350 miles to Chicago for me, and unless I'm mistaken :_thinking , it'd be pretty much the same distance for you Chicagoans/northerners to drive this way too :bgwo: , so it'd be understandable if driving that far was asking a bit much for even a VX mini-meet.
I've driven up to Effingham, IL in the past for one-day car shows, but I'm not even sure if that would be half-way for all of us. If there are any Corvette enthusiasts here though, one possibility for something to do besides check out all the VX's would be to see all the Vette's in town for the 2009 Vette Funfest in September (25th-27th).

Y33TREKker, I am off of work Sept. 26th & 27th. I would be willing to drive down there Saturday, spend the night, and drive back to Chicago on Sunday. Let's get this meet fired up, and see how many will show up in Effingham.
I don't have anything else planned at the moment. I'm thinking that if I go though, it would probably just be for a day on Saturday. I've also sent out a few feelers to non-VX and Corvette owning friends.
I caught a ride up to one of MAM's Porsche meets a few years ago and hung out for a day checking out the various rides. It's a really nice facility.
Not a whole lot more to do in Effingham...unless you like driving around looking at corn...but the town would probably come alive a little if there were a few VX's cruising the streets....oh, and with the Corvettes too. :bgwo:
Effingham Is a couple hours from me (I'm in Jacksonville 30 miles west of Springfield) and I might be able to join ya. I've worked every Fri, Sat and Sunday 12 hr days for the last 4 years in Springfield and have recently accepted a Maintenance Supervisor position and a Binding facility 1 block from my house. So went from driving 70 miles a day to walking 70 yards and weekends off, so I'm up for a little road trip.. But that might be the weekend our town has it's Cruise Night where our population doubles for a weekend. I'll check for sure and post back..
I would be willing to drive to meet up with some fellow VXers I live in St. Louis and wouldn't mind a little drive somewhere
Any chance you ever make it over to the Mount Vernon, IL area? I used to work there, and every now and then I'd see a silver VX on IL 142 southeast of town driving east.Quote:
