After playing in a big sand pit at the weekend i have sprayed my brakes twice with water and tried to fluch any crap from the calipers. however i am getting a constant scraping moise when driving and worse when braking.
I guess the only way to sort it is to take the calipers off and clean them out, can i fust use WD40 and a brush? Im expecting grains of sand stuck to the brake pads and i hope i can get them out / off !!
Any words of wisdome ??
Sand you don't need to worry about, but you likely picked up a rock that's gotten wedged in the caliper. Do the simple thing and pull the wheel and look at it, more than likely you can pop the rock out with a screwdriver or some other type of small lever. Worse-case scenario you'll need to drop the caliper to get it out.
But you do need to to visually inspect just in case a pad's come apart. :rolleyes:
there is a dust shield behind each rotor.. gravel can get stuck there easily and will produce grinding.. try just bending them back and forth a bit anything stuck should pop out.. might not need to disassemble
but I would think using a product such as WD40 on your brakes would be a bad idea.

Getting some brake cleaner and an inspection light from Halfords on my way home tonight.
A jack and six lugs nuts can't be beat for a visual inspection. ;)
