Shameless Plug for the Fumoto Valve

Man, I love the Fumoto valve! Was checking the oil on the IronMan and it was a quart low (wife drives it, I don't get to check as often) so grabbed a 5-quart Mobil-1 jug with about two quarts left in it. Got distracted, wasn't paying attention, dunno but ended up draining the jug into the engine. Oops! :rolleyes: With engine oil it's better to be a little low than a little over, so took an empty quart oil bottle and reached under the VX and opened the Fumoto valve until the bottle was full. Checked the oil up top and it was just right. And not a drop on the floor!

Try that little correction without a Fumoto! :bwgy:

You might want to provide a link to a good source for it - I've been thinking of going to it as well. Did you get the one with or without nipple?

Vendor is in US, ships pretty quick and I've bought like about a dozen since they have ones that work on my heavy equipment. Being able to drain the oil on my Caterpillar D6 without having to drop a 700 pound skid place is handy, especially with 8 gallons of oil! So far the only things that don't have one is the motorcycles and the new VW since I do the oil change from the top on it.

Get the one without the nipple, unless you want to hook a hose to it for draining into something other than a drainpan. The nipple model is mostly for commercial or marine applications.

What model do you order for the VX? F-106? Extension? - I have seen others like this in AutoZONE and such what size would I need to get or should I just only use Fumoto?

YES!! I love the valve! Less messy and much faster!

The F106 without the nipple is what you need. I can only vouch for the Fumoto-brand valves, the highest mileage one I have is at about 40K miles, the roughest duty one on my Caterpillar D6 bulldozer and the most inaccessible on my Lorain TL-25K dragline. They're tough and get the job done quick-n-easy!

For those that worry about it getting knocked off while off-roading keep in mind that the valve sticks out (at an angle even!) less than an inch more than the stock drain plug. If you manage to knock one of these off it'll only be because you managed to nail your oil pan too. ;)

Ah, good, my question answered before I had to ask. Totally dig this plug and I think it is going to be one of my next additions.

I couldn't agree more...this is a great product.
But if you have a skid plate protecting the underside, you will want the one with the nipple, allowing you to run a hose through the skid pan to your drain pan, saving you the cleanup of a big ol' oil mess.:_wrench:

Mine just came in the mail yesterday. I wondered about nippling mine since I plan to get a skid plate.....

Got mine yesterday as well - installing tomorrow morning (I'll take some pics).

None of the Trooper skid plates that fit the VX will cover the engine oil pan, so no worries there.
You will only want one with a nipple/hose option if have a custom belly pan fabbed up like Kenny has, or the one Tone used to sell.

Im planning on getting a full black diamond plate belly pan fabbed up in the upcoming months hopefully by summer. Getting my diff drop brackets fabbed this weekend.
