This is why many military tactics can be applied to civilian situations:
Pilots try to "fool" the missile and keep it from
locking onto the plane by releasing what looks
like pieces of aluminum foil out the back of the
jet. It's called chaffe, and it confuses the
missile. Another is by releasing flares to give
heat seeking missiles something else to target.
I figure in the event my radar/laser detector fails to give adequate warning...I will start winging doughnuts out the window from the box on my dash!
