The part in question was the hook and bolt thru it that doesn't touch it...concensus (so far) is that is a safty to anchor the body to the frame in case of body and frame separation...my guess is that is used on the assembly line (but wait, weren't these hand built?) to hold the body in the general area of the frame until the shock sbsorbing mounts were placed and tightened. But then again I haven't looked close to see if the VX has rubber bumper mounts between the body and frame, I just assume that it does. I'll have to look next time I go under.
