I had regretted getting rid of the VX for a couple weeks... it seemed that with my budget I wouldn't be able to find a nice sporty car that would replace both the VX and the Elise... but then I found this TT

My new custom plate will be: TT LUVR

But doesnt that cost as much as the VX / elise combined Actually, the Audi TT seems to have suffered drastic depreciation. Also, the dealer selling this car actually dropped the price a bit because of the intercooler, strut brace, rear-seat delete, suspension mods, aftermarket head-unit and amp, boost gauge, and the dozen or so other mods that he obviously doesn't have a clue about. I actually paid BELOW private-party blue-book value for this TT, and it's already got a head-start on the mods I would wind up doing myself anyway!!! :D My VW tuner friend thinks it probably has a bigger turbo and 300+ hp. We won't find out the extent of what was done til I get it next week. All the performance mods + AWD makes this potentially the steal of the century!!! :D

But in answer to your question... a 2001 Audi TT sells these days for just a little more than a 2001 Isuzu VX.... and less than a 2001 Honda S2000.

Dude, that's awesome. I've always loved the TT and am looking to get one in the next couple of months. I'm going to buy either a TT, A3, or a late 80's Porsche 928. All very different cars, but any will look nice when parked next to my VX.

Nice find though. Your TT is awesome.

Best of all, that interior is a very nice place to be. Congrats my friend, drive the wheels off of it. Wayne

As much as I love the TT, I would have kept the VX and the Elise. You see TT's every other car these days. A VX and an Elise seem to be far more exclusive ;)

Either way, congrats on your purchase. TT's are friggin awesome!

I would have kept the VX and the EliseUnfortunately, that wasn't an option. :(

Okay, you've sacrificed your toys and settled for a more "economical" and common surrogate. But how's the start-up going? C'mon, you know we're impatient as all get out! :p

Goffaramma, we are two peas in a pod, my friend!

My wife's A3 currently sits in the driveway next to my VX (see my gallery for a pic), and I have been watching the local Porsche 928 market like a hawk waiting for the right one to pop up. She and I are both huge fans of the TT, as well, but have not yet considered buying one.

Very nice Audi, Transio.

I really like the subdued look of the front end with the blacked out headlights, and the very conservative use of chrome. VERY nice looking car.

I personally never really looked at Audi's, but now that I've bought a VW, I've become a HUGE fan of the German "intelligent design". Once you go German, few car companies can compete with the luxury and convenience features.

HOLY CRAP! No idea! That is great man! I was kinda worried when I got back in town and read your thread on the fit or yaris or whatever it was. While they are nice vehicles, they just didnt seem to fit you...you know, in the couple hours that I was around I became a source for all things steve  but you know what i mean...from a vx/elies combo to a yaris...the jump dint fit to me at least. But that TT seems right up your alley. If ever I take a 25 hour detour to Miami, you must take me for a ride.

Whoa, that is wierd. We must be long lost twins. In my opinion, you and your wife have perfect taste.

I absolutely love the 928 and like you, have been watching the market for the perfect one. I'd love an '86.5, but I think I'll take any year if it's black over black. Let me know if you get one. We'll have to exchange pictures. And by the way, have you checked out www.rennlist.com? That's a great place for info on the 928, and a great group of people, much like this site.

928 used to be one of my favorite cars! :D I'd like to get one some day, but probably would get a 993 first. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that many VX owners share the same taste in cars. ;)

Goffaramma, thanks for this tip on Rennlist.com - I was not at all familiar with it, and was wondering where the heck the "good" 928 forum was on the web, as the one forum I have found so far was pretty weak.

Black-on-black is a nice color combo of course! I'm pretty open to color combos, as long as it's not this one:
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/Purple_Porsche.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/Purple_Porsche.jpg)

I may take a look at these two this weekend, if I can find the time:

I will keep ya'll advised of any developments on the 928 front...

when i was in college i purchased my '88 924S with m030 suspension from a rennlist member and the only reason i was able to afford and maintain that car was the rennlist.

goffaramma
09/07/2006, 07:42 AM
Hey VehiGAZ. Yeah, the rennlist is awesome. I'm on there all the time just lurking around, learning about all the fun, and trouble, one can get into with a 928. Both of the 928s you posted links to sound good, and the one with pics looks good as well. I test drove an '87 a couple of weeks ago down in Atlanta and it was in great shape, but it was red. I don't mind red, but I think it's just too flashy for me. But what a ride!

And Iamjacksadrenalgland, I'm with you on how useful rennlist can be. When I finally get a 928, I'm sure it'll come in handy for my do-it-yourselfer attitude.

Good luck this weekend VehiGAZ, if you go check anything out. I know you'll have fun if you do. It's so fun to look at and test drive different 928s that I know I'll miss it when I finally buy one. And get in on the rennlist because people there know what to look for when searching for a 928. They're really awesome in helping others out and I'm sure they'll love helping out another 928 fan.

Eureka! I think I found THE ONE (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=208532288&dealer_id=58355538&car_year=1989&model=928&bkms=1149089002087&lang=&isp=y&start_year=1987&mod_bookmark_id=null&certified=&search_type=used&distance=300&make=POR&min_price=&address=06525&advanced=&end_year=1993&max_price=&cardist=100) !

Will keep you all updated...

Now that I actually read your story update Transio, I am really sorry for hijacking this thread...

That mess with the seemingly perfect TT absolutely sucks!!! After reading the whole story, I got that "Yeah, I guess it DID sound a little too good to be true" feeling. What a shame - it looked perfect in the photos! It's amazing what a camera can hide. You have my sympathies, Transio. Sorry it worked out so poorly.

What I have so much trouble understanding is why a dealer would post a piece of crap on eBay when it will surely become their headache when they piss off a legitamate buyer when they FLY out to pick up the car and discover it's a P-O-S!? I understand that an unscrupulous dealer would be happy to fleece a buyer by selling him a piece of crap, but they should KNOW that the buyer is a sucker before trying it! Don't try to pull the wool over knowing eyes...

PS - all future talk of 928s will go in a new thread.
