I have info on installing a gauge pod if anyone is interested. E-mail me and I'll send it to you.

Hey Reg, how about posting it? Then everyone can have access to it. How about the part number also? I’m ready to try the 3 gauge pod and hopefully you can help me mold it to the pillar on your next trip to Austin.

What gauges are you going to use?

AF, Battery, Water temp, BOOST :bwgr:

I'm using oil pressure and voltage.......Back to the basics.
Here's the info I had put together.

The pod fits great w/ a little help from the heat gun. The one to
order is Autometer part no. 20-428 for a '96-'98 Honda civic 2dr.
Go to www.autometer.com for all the gauge styles
I got my pod and gauges from www.carparts.com. .
I used Autometer Gauges. Their “Z” series because I wanted an all black look.
Any of their 2 1/16 styles would work.

Modifying the civic pod to fit the VX is easy. I just trimmed the rib on the inside
top and bottom of the pod, gently heated it on the inside w/ a
heat gun and pressed it against the trim. I did the top first and then
the bottom. Just be careful around the top because the heat gets
channeled through the top opening, which is easy to distort.
You need to be careful. It’s easy to ruin a pod with too much heat.
And get burned trying to press down the pod flange. (Use a thick glove)
You have the choice of painting the pod gray or the whole pillar black.

Thought I might let you know what I went thru on the oil press sender.
My OEM sender was in the lower forward hole and there was not enough
room (clearance for the large dia of the new sender) for the new sender in
the upper aft hole which had an allen screw plug.
So I moved the OEM to the upper aft hole, and then put the new sender where the
OEM sender had been. It was the same thread but I had a hard time starting
it, trying to make sure I didn't cross thread it. I also noticed that it
looks like there is an extra wire in the wiring harness at the OEM sender. I
suspect it’s for models that have the oil press sender. Couldn't find it in
the dash area so just ran a wire on to the new sender.

E-mail from Jim Catterson:
Reg, after you emailed me that the sender was a bitch to get in, I
did a little investigating...the sender threads are not metric, nor
are they pipe thread [this means that they taper very slightly]. You
only notice the difference when you thread the sender into a metric
die. The 5mm allen holed plug in the filter housing is the metric
equivalent of 1/8" pipe thread, having that very slight taper. I took
the plug and matched the thread to the smallest metric die that would
fit and then ran the die down the sender's threads. The sender is
brass so the threads cut pretty easily. It still threaded-in somewhat
tightly because of the pipe thread, but I definitely wasn't cutting
any threads in either the housing or the sender...

I will be ordering pods this coming Monday or Tuesday - if you would like me to order one for you (and hopefully get Reg to supervise the fitment), email me. I am personally going to get the 3 pod unit for Voltage, Air Fuel, and Boost but will get some of the doubles as well as they are less intrusive.

The oil sending unit uses a British metric thread that is hard to find - same threads on the extra taps down on the oil filter mount - I will put mine there as I already have the $30 adapter to standard threads from my initial blower project.

U.h VehiX, you‘ve listed four gauges - gonna try and put a pod on the passenger side, too? ;Dy;

I got a Blitz three gauge DIN panel. takes 3 43mm gauges, but um...I ran out of DIN slots, so I can't use it myself.

If you have an aftermarket stereo system, this migth be an option for you.

I was just asking what guages you guys are going to be using :)

Meaning you could use any combination of the ones I mentioned not all 4 of them :)

How ever I have seen gauges on both A pillars before ;Do;

I have had my gauge pod mounted for a little over a month now and am very pleased with it. I did end up shooting my a-pillars black to match the black on the pod since that gray was very hard to match. Black looks great though. I ended up with very basic oil pressure and voltage gauges. I think that if I ever go with a S/C, I will swap the voltage out for a boost. We shall see.

I just got a digital camera last Friday and plan on getting some updated pics. I hope to be able to document all of my mods and have some pics of them. My own little scrapbook. ;)

I have Carbon Fiber Oil Pressure and Air/Fuel on my A pillar and I have 3 others that are getting mounted in front of the shifters under the CD changer, Volt, Boost/VAC, Water temp.

I am switching out the oil press with the boost to have that on the A pillar...

When I am done installing the 3 other autometer gages it should look something like this...

Those are Blitz gauges. You can probably get them at http://www.overboost.com and other import performance shops. http://www.summitracing.com is likely also.

They look like 43mm size gauges.
