Yes Isuzu is seriously entering this year with top drivers Auriol and orioli.
Team boss is nobody else than Clay Reggazoni.

And the truck has:(yes joe Black) A DIESEL ENGINE !

How far will they go?

It's about time ISUZU shows a little muscle!!! Nice Rig!
Keep us updated Richard on the 2006 Paris-Dakar (also let me know how DAF trucks are making out this year)

Sorry to tell you that all the DAF's did not pass homologation!
Jan de Rooy is so furious now that he has said that he will build 15 Trucks of his own to his own specs. and that he will finnish 1st 2nd and 3rd next year.
The man from from FIA or simmilar that promissed to homologate the trucks for DAF did not come through and was on holliday can you believe it?
Anyway we have a reasonable amount of dutch drivers on motorcycle, cars and trucks. best ranking at the moment is hans stacey who is 3rd in the trucks ranking.

Oh man...THAT SUCKS!
I bet Jan was ready to kill something. He has been doing the race for so long (Since 1982 I beleive) "De Rooy TRANSPORT". I bet PACCAR was also not too happy about that situation. It's amazing how one person can srcew up an entire race team effort....THERE SHOULD BE A LAW!

Hi Guys,

Nice pickup! Actually one of my friends is in the race too with an Opel Frontera (That is also an ISUZU clone). He was in the first 40 but I hope he will finish in the first 30.

Looks like Team Isuzu is having a pretty decent showing:
Car #349 (w/ Orioli driving) is now in 35th place overall in the car/suv class.
Car # 350 (w/ Auriol driving) is not fairing so well, they have dropped to 291st place.

That ad/article has popped up on planet isuzoo before. Tad found it last time. I think that this is for the same VX, it just didn't sell, and he raced it again this year (2005).

The transmission (and transfer case?) is from Holinger -they make aftermarket units for performance vehicles.

The guy seems super-smart on Isuzus. Apparantly this VX (and his Jackaroo) are Motec-controlled 300whp beasts.

That would be one sweet ride for some Dune Pounding. For 78K someone could have a complete race team all set up :p
