UNEVEN THOUGHTS

I just noticed a high pitched whistle comming from my engine compartment when I accelerate sometimes. It sounds alot like a turbo spooling up, I'm thinking it might be a leaky intake manifold gasket. Any other thoughts from you guys?

mine makes a whistle at around 70MPH or more when on the highway...but that is with my 305 70 17" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's and the speedometer is not calibrated a ssuch, so it is accually going much faster than what it says.

My whistle is defenitly not wind related because it happens at any speed. As long as I'm accelerating it makes a air sucking whistle noise, if I let off the gas it stops.

mine is not wind related either. It happens at that speed I mentioned as long as I have my foot on the pedal. If I take it off the Pedal, the sound stops, accelerate again and the sound comes back.

Hey Guys
I have had that problem once. Its the PCV valve.

Now that you mention that I do have a little diesel sound comming from the engine too. I guess it's about time to check and clean the PCV and ERG valves.

It's your air intake. My morgantec intake whistles at specific speed / rpm /throttle combinations

Make sure the nut which attaches the pipe to the bottom of your EGR is tight. Takes a 22mm open end to tighten, a little ackward. This one if loose, will produce a diesel sound. Many posts on that subject by fellow VXers.
