My gas gauge just started bouncing around real bad...when I turn one way, it pegs full, and turning the other way it pegs empty. It just started to do this, does anyone have this problem? What's the cure?

Thanks!

Better gas....

JK! Sounds like the fuel level sender is bad. Maybe someone else can explain how to replace?

While mine isn't quite that bad, I've been thinking it's time to do the same thing. I think someone previously said you can get the part from St. Charles Isuzu for about $35. Apparently mine has been screwy for a long time. It reads 1/4 tank when it still has half a tank left (or more). It could be worse though - it could be reading too high. :-) I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I always fill it up when it gets to 1/4 tank? I heard letting it get too low on a consistent basis can be bad for the fuel system so I just developed a habit of refilling then.

Anyway, I haven't gotten under there and really looked at it yet, but my VX maintenance CD makes it look like a pretty simple and straightforward replacement (unplug a pin connector, a few screws). Here are the screenshots:

Hope that helps!

I've seen kits on ebay that are supposed to overcome this problem. You'll have to pick through an Isuzu search, or try adding fuel and or gauge to the search. I think there might be a couple different plug configurations, so get the correct number from a dealer first.
