Well, here they are fresh from the shop!
I still have to polish them. And I was thinking of doing the lettering in the color of the car(proton).
What do you think?

D G,
Sorry for the impatient reply...too much coffee this a.m., I think. If you do offer up these bits for $ale, It would be nice if they could be ordered in different diameters for aftermarket c caps. Really nice lookin work.

Very nice! I'm definitely in if they become available. You going to powdercoat or anodize?

I'd definitely want a set, too. I love the stock wheels but hate the centers.

Count me in as well if you decide to sell. Those are much better looking than the stockers. If think your idea of painting the lettering would be HOT, especially with a Proton. Nice work!!!!

Sharp.....but in my opinion yellow is too close to silver and it will be hard to read , I would experiment with different contrasting colors.:) Good job!

I think they would look awesome if the resembled the stock logo.. But maybe black V, CROSS and red EHI.

It is only for the 18", or can it be made for the 16"?

Wow! Those are very nice. I really hope you make those available for sale, as I'd jump at a set.

They look really nice as they are, but I'd consider a version with powder coated lettering... I'd like to see how they would look in blue to match my calipers... ;Db;

I'd also like to know if they would fit the 16" rims.

TheDutchGuy -

I think those are one of the coolest cosmetic mods ever done on a VX! You never said whether you were considering making these available for sale. There would certainly be a good number of takers if you did. I would understand if you wanted to keep your unique mod design to yourself, but don't keep us in suspense! ;Db;

Please share. You'll maintain your uniquity. You're in the Netherlands, so if a bunch of us in the states get this, it isn't like you're going to run into us over there. :-)

This is a great mod! If you produce them, I'm in. I vote for unpainted and polished.

So, do you think you can have sets made for those of us who want them?

Sorry guys, but I've been soooooo busy , my dear colleague has been given up by medical science(he has terminal cancer) and me and the rest of the team have work overtime till the summer hollidays.
However I am working on a number of items which will be made out of alloy or plastic material with the vehicros logo cnc milled out of it.
No sooner then september this year though!
I will post the options and availabillity on this forum.
Since I have no reason to make money out of this it will probably be a 1 time only offer, so that everyone interested can aply for a number of items.
Depending on the number of entries a fixed price will be set.The more entries, the lower the price.
Things in the making so far: wheel centres, grille logo, paper weight, shifter knobs.
If you have other ideas please pm me.

Wow, shifter knobs would be awesome too - maybe something solid metal with just the VehiCross logo etched in the top, and an emergency brake handle to match. I'd probably go for a keychain with a matching design if that were available.

I don't want to steal dutchguy's thunder, but did want to point out that his disks are not on factory stock center caps. I believe his centers are the type that are held on by the lugnuts and are about 5-6 inces in diameter.

What is the diameter of the disks themselves?

Moncha

Funny, they look like the stock ones I have.

aprox.:100 mm.
Remove the black plastic ones and mounted these metal ones with some adhesive.

Stock 18s....

Heraclid
05/26/2005, 08:18 PM
Was toying with the idea of shifter knobs myself. My idea was trying to figure out a way to make a clear one out of a resin with one of the VX HotWheels encased in it (silver in my case).

Sgt Batguano has a point in that the '99 wheels have a different kind of center cap with three screws that go into the wheel between the lug nuts. I'm not sure if the areas where these discs would go are the same size on the 18's and 16's or not.

kpaske

I never realized that the stock 18's are different from the stock 16's. I always thought they were exactly the same except for the diameter.

Heraclid
05/26/2005, 08:31 PM
Yeah, the 99's have Trooper wheels, just shinier. The 18's are another creature entirely. Taller, wider, different centers, different spoke details.

The factory center caps are attached with 3 bolts from the inside of the wheel and the cap extends to the center of the bolt circle. The caps on dg's wheels are held on by the lugnuts, if I'm not mistaken and the circumference extends outside the bolt circle, like some older isuzu caps.

SGT, refresh your memory of the caps/rims with the pics below or copy them both to your desktop for a side by side - I posted a pic of a stock rim and cap and it IS the same as the one modified.

I don't see your pics, but here's mine . This is NOT a factory 18" cap, but I'm pretty sure it IS the type DG is using.

Note the holes around the lug nuts.

I can't post images, but the pic is in my gallery.

I know this is an old post, but, I researched a little and see a few VX pics on this site from different members have different Isuzu OEM center caps on their stock 18"s. I'm seeing one type that is in fact smaller and just mounted to the wheel itself from behind as SGT.BATGUANO said, not through the lug nuts...like this:

http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=6848

While others have caps that are mounted through the wheel lug nuts and are wider....like this:

http://www.vehicross.info/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=308

Was this an Isuzu change in design or something else??
hmmm........?
