Well there is some talk of 4.88 gears (http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=681358&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1) on 4x4 wire. Just figure I would post here for those that don't follow that board. If there is enough intrest then maybe the Isuzu community will have a great gearing option for everyone running 33" tires on the IFS.

477's would be bad *** with my 305 70 17's which like 33x12.5's ...I think the front axle and cv's would not like 488's....but, I would go with either... cause I can fix my own cv's if they get broke from having large wheels and large gears. Not fun and really greasy. but, the 477's or 488's would be fun to have.

Are we talking about new transmission innards or differential or what? Clue in the clueless! And what's the point? To have more low end power?

They are differential gears. They will bring the drive train overall gearing back closer to stock when using 32-34" tires. When offroad lower gearing = better power / torque. They would also add low end acceleration to a stock VX, but would also put you at much higher RPM's for highway speeds.

I'm very interested in getting these. Since I never intend on running anything smaller than 33's on my VX, it really makes sense to restore the gear ratio to regain that low end pep. Then when I get my super charger I'll really be screamin! :jump:

I'd jump all over a set of 4.88's. That would bring you back just slightly lower than the stock ratio with 33" tires. I'm sooo there!

Sound's like a LOT of wishing and what ifs on that site by guys with 15 yr old Isuzu's. Unless I misunderstand, no one knows if these are even made or available for our diffs, correct? Guess it keeps everyone off the streets...

Matt apparently has a gear cutter who is willing to cut relatively small sets of gears. So along with the guys who are wishing for gears, there is someone who has the means to have them made. I'm sure that Matt has a minimum number of pre-orders that he'll need before he commits to having a batch made. Although I won't be buying a set, I wish him luck for the sake of Isuzu aftermarket parts.

There does seem like quite a bit of interest. I know I would definitely get a set, especially if they came pre-installed in the third members. I've promised myself that this year I'm going to save up for a supercharger, but if these come out I may have spring for both! ;Db;
