Picked up an AudioControl DQX today, in YELLOW!

Very hard to find in anything but silver. This is the fully digital version of the venerable EQT 1/3 rd octave 30 band EQ. It also is a 2 or 3 way active 24Db slope crossover.

YES, I am going to tri-amp the Focals!

Is this English, or some version of pig Latin that I haven't heard before?

Focals, huh? I just bought a Focal 8" sub with enclosure off eBay. Does anyone know if the stock head unit has line-level (pre-amp) outputs? Or do I have to put a new stereo in there now, too?

You will need either a new head unit, or a line out converter to get the signal to an amp.

I figured. So who makes a quality converter these days? Does stealing signal from the rear speakers change the load ont hose channels?

It would be SOOO much easier to run wires from the rear speakers than to run wire all the way from the dash! I HATE running wires from the dash...

Yeah... running wires from behind the stereo can be a pain... so, maybe since you'll need to pull the dash face and stereo out, maybe consider a new CD/MP3 player? I know, you didn't want to spend the extra money, but you'll have a better head unit, with the connections you need, and the ability to fit around 11 or so full CD's (ripping to MP3) onto one CD-R/RW.

Anyway, just a thought... but don't you just love new toys? :)

Edit: By the way, there is a SWEET JVC head unit on sale on Overstock for $217.99 - $20 coupon + $2.95 shipping = $200.94.

I can't find the actual coupon code... only links that put the code in for you, so you can click HERE (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?siteID=UiLPEFa1jWM-BQ0ihm0FHSdPCKb9EQ8VVw&PAGE=STATICPAGE&PAGE_ID=2642&CID=62249&fp=F) then search for KD-LHX500 and you'll find it.

Here's some info on it:

anytime i add a converter to a stock unit ,i add the rear speakers to the front channel and add the converter to the rear channel. so front and rear are on front channel and rear is for converter. makes it easier to control the sub volume. shawn
