I'm not familiar with the MileMarker winches other than having heard about them before. I wonder about the physical size of that winch. I plan to buy a winch before Moab... but I want to tuck it behind the front cladding like Spazz and Swordy have done... do you think the MileMarker winch in question will fit there? Spazz and Swordy have the Warn XD9000 and since I KNOW that one fits, was gonna just get it. I can get it for under $800 shipped... and like I said, it is proven to fit. So whatayathink about the size of the MM winch?

Don't know about the size. However when I do get a winch I want it to fit behind the cladding also! Would be worth checking into for half the price. They carry both brands and may be able to give comparable sizes between the two.
From the Milemarker (http://www.milemarker.com/PE8000.html) site: L 22in. W 6.22in. H 7.283in. Weight 80lbs.
From the Warn (http://www.warn.com/truck/winches/src/XD9000.shtml) site: L 21.8 W 6.3 H 7.6 Weight 78lbs.
They sound pretty much the same in size. Hopefully those who have winches installed can chime in!

One of the questions I would have is about the solenoid/electronics in the box on top of the winch... if I'm not mistaken, Spazz said they relocated that on the XD9000 to make it fit... below (hopefully) are pictures of each winch... the dimensions seem pretty comparable... I would like to know if the same modification can be done on the MM winch...

On top of that, I wonder how much actual difference there is in the two winches power wise... the MM is rated at 8000 and the Warn at 9000... are either under or over rated? Does one brand have a better track record? Just curious...

Later!

The Mile Marker looks like my Harbor Freight 8k winch. And yes the solenoid box can easily be relocated using starter / battery cables.

actually, Swordy has the M8000 and I have the XD9000. They are the low profiles without that tower on top. Can't go any bigger on measurements really or you risk the wrap ripping stuff out if it rolls up too much in one spot. and I know my winch was heavier than 78 pounds...it was more like 100 pounds...and I do believe that the Warn site measurements were off because when I purchased mine it said it had Identical measurements as the M8000 except a really small fraction longer, but it actually all different measurements and almost didn't fit.

I am very pleased with the Warn XD9000, it pulls older full size Suburbons high centered on a pine tree and roots, no problem ;Dr;
