I want to get a sporty tire for my VX and I'm looking at the Michelin Cross Terrain 255/70/18. Would I need to trim the cladding being I'm going from a 245/60/18 to a this size? Also, are the 70's much bigger than the 60's?

Any advice appreciated.

Yeah, you‘re gonna need to trim front and maybe back depending on how much you have lifted the front - new tires are 32.1” tall! Width is not a problem though.

If I stayed with 255/55/18's, which would be better:

Yoko G052's or Michelin Cross Terrains? They are both supposedly good in snow also.

Yokohamas. I've got Michelin Cross Terrains on the IronMan (came with it) and they absolutely BLOW! Noisy, poor traction and can't get 'em to balance. If the IronMan had 18" wheels I'd put the Duelers left over from the Dragon on!

I have to say I strongly disagree with the previous post. I have Cross Terrains and I love em. Great traction in everything plus great ride and handling. Excellent choice. Michelins are the best tires on the market. They may cost a tad more than other brands; but they are well worth it. Don't skimp on tires. http://www.michelinman.com/catalog/tires/MichelinCrossTerrainSUV.html?tiretype=5&tire=0

I put the Michelin Cross Terrain SUV tires on my VX way back when they first came out. Everything was great except they wore out way too fast. Check for reviews at Tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com/).

Perhaps they're okay in snow, but here in the Southeast they're no better than stock. Love my new Kumhos though! ;Do;
