I'm new to this site, but am glad its here. I inherited an '01 VX Ironman from a friend, and am trying to find a good home for it (selling it). People are constantly asking about it wherever I drive- and I LVOE driving it.

Does the Ironman com standard with a towing hitch? Mine has the 2" square on it. I called the dealer, they said the VX doesn't have a towing rating at all.

Does anybody have more info about this? And if there's a towing hitch, does that mean the radiator and other things are larger or reinforced for towing?

cheers

The tow rating is the same as the short-wheelbase Trooper RS - 5000lbs. The VX was never offered with a factory tow package or accessories for such. Innovative folk like Tone developed and sell hitch kits, which is probably what that one has. If it looks OEM and protrudes slightly from the rear cladding, then it's Tone's hitch.

thanks for the tow info Joe ! hehe
So that tax write-off that large SUV's and trucks enjoy would apply for the VX too, it seems. yet another bonus! Where did you find the tow rating for the VX?
thanks

The rating isn't printed anywhere, just a common sense kinda thing. Same basic chassis as the Trooper RS and same drivetrain as the Trooper TOD and Axiom. As for the tax breaks, that's all based on vehicle weight not towing capacity. Find a good, honest accountant for how to get effective savings out of a business-use vehicle. ;Dy;
