I've noticed that my engine doesn't turn over right away. So, I was wondering if anyone's starter went out:
What were the symtoms?
About what mileage?

anyone know how long I should expect it to last?

thanks!

Starters can fail just about anytime, although the solenoid is the usual culprit. A rebuild is about $30 at a good shop. You can remove it in the morning, drop it off for rebuild and have it back in time for an afternoon re-install. Are you sure it isn't the battery? You can go to an AutoZone, PepBoys or similar and they'll do a free diagnostic. If it's the battery get an Optima Red Top and worry no more! ;Dr;

If it's not an Optima get it checked anyway, that way they can check your alternator output and also see how much current your starter is drawing.

Any luck finding the problem?

it's not really a problem yet.
i'm just trying to get ahead of it before it really becomes a problem and leaves me stranded somewhere.

Saw a couple on ebay, but they are listed for trooper etc. and I'm not sure that they are a number for number interchange.
