I thought I'd check in with y'all for a minute just to let you know whats up with the conversion... unfortunately, NOTHING seems to ever go right... lol I have received a few emails from members around here asking how things are going and if everything is ok. Thanks for asking... glad to know SOMEONE misses my presence! lmao!

The last time I posted, I was dealing with transmission problems... turned out that I received a SERIOUS junker of a tranny... I paid $450 for the CORE (I say core because it wasn't usable for ANYTHING other than rebuild) tranny... at this point, I have invested an additional $1200'ish into it! Yeah, thats right, I have over $1600 if not in the upwards of $1800 into the tranny alone... there were some serious problems in there. I never got a straight answer from the seller... he claims to be trying to come up with some kind of financial contribution for my problems but I'm not gonna hold my breath... maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised! He did mention he used a tow-dolly to pull the donor car back to Chicago from Virginia or something... WITH the back wheels on the road... the tranny shop did agree that this could explain a decent amount of the wear inside but not ALL of it.

I did some serious modifications to my already custom transmission to transfer case adaptor plate. I had to clearance the adaptor plate to clear the range selector cup (whatever you want to call it)... once that was done, I found that I had to clearance the transmission case also. The range selector cup wouldn't clear one of the bolts that the adaptor plate bolts to... this means that the tranny will have five instead of six bolts holding it to the adaptor... I don't think this will be a problem but we shall see... furthermore, IF I find any need to change to a different transfer caes (I hope thats not the case), I may have to replace my tranny housing! DOH! That'd suck!

Other than that, I haven't made ANY more progress. I have been dealing with some personal financial stuff (accepting donations at PayPal rreed17@kc.rr.com... lol... just kidding of course!). I had also spent some quality time with my son before I shipped him off for the summer... in case you don't know, I am a single full-time daddy during the school year... he travels all over the country on his summer vacation to visit family members (including his mom who is in California). I have also taken care of some OTHER projects around the house thta have been carrying on LONGER than the whole VX thing. I'm getting to the point that I will have no other excuses though so hopefully I'll be back on track soon.

I'm curious as to whether or not Stan (VX922) had started his conversion or not. I'd hate to be passed up as the FIRST V8VX on the road... If you're reading this Stan, how are things going? Anyway, just wanted to post this really quick... gotta get some rest for work tomorrow... I'll TTYL!

Coach... I mean Randy (I often forget who I really am) ;)

Hello Coach,
Here is an owner who has installed an l98 vette engine into an Amigo. Just might be worth a call to the owner to see how he did it.
L98 Amigo (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2482377641&category=6267)

Which company did you go with the electrical wiring?

I here
Speartech (http://www.speartech.com/)
is one of the best painfree wiring harness for the LS1 conversion.

Glad to see you back!

Cheers
