Now that I am a new owner, I'm out looking to see what VX Toys were produced or available. Is that a dead giveaway how much I enjoy this car???

Does anyone have an idea about which scale sized Die Casts were ever produced? I've seen some Matchbox (1/72) versions around. Did any companies produce any significantly larger collectible versions (1/24, 1/16, 1/14 etc)?

I've seen some larger model kits available but I was hoping to find pre-assembled metal versions if they ever existed. Just lazy I guess. Thanks!

Diecast:

Hongwell/Schuco multiple colors 1/72
Hongwell/Schuco multiple colors 1/43

Hotwheels in Silver, Yellow, Red and White

Realtoy (Fastlane) 1/64
These came in at least 5 colors, were sold boxed separately at TRU in Japan. As part of a 25 vehicle set or Car Wash set in the US, or as part of single and two-car carded Fastlane sets in Canada. There are many loose sold on eBay (most come from Canada, I believe), including a version that's mounted to a key-chain.

There was a Japanese release by Tomy in 1/64th (I'm at work so I don't have it in front of me - sculpts not very good).

Maisto 1/24th in multiple colors

Transformer in 3 styles approx 1/32nd

R/C Plastic:

Large (1/6th?) R/C - liquid fuel powered VX with full suspension.

Many versions of a 1/15th (SuperCross, City Hunter, Road Warrior and others - mostly knock-offs) - mulitple colors in both wired and wireless remote control. Many of these come from Europe.

R/C Racing Car in approx 1/30th - 3 versions including an interesting camo/military one.

Small R/C in Japan only (looks like the same sculpt as the Tomy above).

Scamper - miniature (sculpt's not very good).

Tyco - "VX inspired"

In Plastic:

Korean Medical Emergency Truck
Stompers (3 versions)
Police Force (3 versions, with working light)
"Close" copies in various forms (obviously inspired by the VX).

3 Tamiya Kits:
1/24th Scale
1/32nd Scale
1/32nd Scale Team Geolander

There's a bunch of other stuff offered in Asia as seen in cyrk's link above. I always look in discount stores for stuff.

John:

Thanks so such for the link. I'm really enjoying reading them. I just bookmarked it so I can come back and read your updates. I do have one question though. You mentioned a Maisto 1/24 car in one of your earlier posts. I've been trying to locate one with no luck. Do you have any suggestions or sites I can try. I did go to www.maisto.com but couldn't find any mention of the Vehicross.

I'm not sure who actually manufactured the VX for Maisto, as it has been out of production for some years. I don't own one, have only seen pictures. Because of the tiny production run on the VX, most toy makers did not spend the time producing molds for a toy version. Most of the R/C VXes you see these days are all produced from what looks like the same Chinese Mold that the Asahi (which was licensed) version used. The Cararama mold has been reused in several different packaging variations and distributed through at least 4 companies. When I get time I'll take some pics to show what's out there.

That's the one I mention above:

Large (1/6th?) R/C - liquid fuel powered VX with full suspension.

The one I have is called "Rocke" and came in a red-shell:

http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2966&papass=&sort=4

http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=2964&papass=&sort=4

I haven't powered it up yet... I tried contacting the distributor and seeing about extra body shells. I'd love to find one in Proton Yellow without any of the graphics.

The wife found this set at Toys R Us. I have the red VX sitting on my desk right now.

I very reluctantly bought a digi camera and was messin' 'round with my Hot Wheels VX. I think it's gonna be a while before I can take any really good pics.

Here ya go, t2p. I have to learn how to get the brightness and lighting settings correct with this camera.

Alaska, I've heard that video is a great one. I may have to get that. It's not Pink Floyd, but the Roger Waters video, 'In The Flesh-Live', is another great one. I saw him at Madison Square Garden on that tour in 7/00 and it was AMAZING. They did a fantastic version of 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun'.
