Center Console--Help Needed

Well I took my center console lid off today, and It would appear that the cover is glued on. I'm not sure if this is OEM, but it does create a pickle of a problem to get it recovered. Does anyone know if they were glued on like this stock, or if there is a trick to getting the plastic panel off the bottom of the lid, without breaking it? The plastic on mine is already cracked from age, and I don't want to render it totally unservicable.

I'm trying to get a local shop to recover it with surplus material i got from Wet Okole that will match my seat covers.

Looking at mine, it appears to be glued on as well. Acetone should be able to release the glue.

I can see where it's stapled underneath the plastic, but I don't see how to get the plastic off to get at it.
