I bought it new in 01 and have loved her for 16 years of daily driving. Finally time for me to sell and get something new. Overall great condition with a few issues here and there. I have tried to be thorough in listing all conditions below in the checklist but feel free to reach out if you have questions. 185k miles. All accessories and many spare parts. Roof rack and roof basket. Running strong, cold A/C.
I've been on the forum since the beginning...and the 2 before it. It has been invaluable for all that it taught me about the vehicle. I'm listing it here and on the Fb page but will wait to post on Craigslist. I would love to see this go to someone who really wants it from the forum!
$5200. pix below the checklist:
~Any service history records? All of them! In a binder organized chronologically. Have original window sticker and all manuals.
~How long have you owned it? Original owner. Purchased new in 2001.
~Electric windows work properly or bind? They work properly. Driver’s Used to bind but installed the SBC brackets. Still have the uninstalled bracket for the passenger side.
~Condition of window rubber track/gaskets...(many have ripped or been cut) Window track rubber in good condition no modifications done.
~Look behind door panels to see if vapor barrier is present - (may indicate previous work on windows) Somewhat present, not completely intact. I have changed window brackets and speakers.
~Window regulator /motor been replaced? Both working great. Passenger side replaced: 8/29/07
~SBC brackets ever installed on windows? Yes.
~Any oil consumption noted, under ANY conditions? (some seem to consume a little when on prolonged highway driving) Needs about a quart between oil changes.
~Chrome wheels peeling? (many peeled on the inner side) No peeling and in excellent condition.
~ABS - Any ABS light problems? Make sure ABS light comes on when key is first turned to ON position. If not, could a problem and / or bulb has been removed. Note, many have disconnected ABS system, or never repaired it when it went out, and truck seems to function fine (just no ABS).
ABS light currently not on but likely the bulb has died. ABS light has been on for most of the life of the car. No issues or concerns with braking.
~OEM CD player still work correctly or ERR3 code? Any jammed CDs? No longer have the OEM stereo. Currently has a Pioneer flip up touch screen

with integrated rear camera (attached to license plate). Stereo pairs with Apple and android phones for wired or Bluetooth functionality. I integrated the mic into the fuzzy hole. Original, non-modified fuzzy hole will be included.
~Any problems with TOD? Works perfect!
~Any clunking when decelerating or accelerating? Since day 1 of owning car. Just happens when the speed is right. Never an issue.
~Brand & model of tires & approx tread remaining- Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/60/18. 60-75% remaining. Oversize tires.
~Do all 4 tires match in brand, size, model, AIR PRESSURE & wear? (TOD system will often make severe clunking noises if all 4 aren't pretty "equal" in all these terms) – All tires match and have equal wear.
~How long have these current 4 tires been on? 2012
~Timing belt changed? I don't recall and couldn't find it in my records but I must have changed it at some point.
~Original OEM brake pads or replacements? Brakes replaced 10/3/15
~Any fluids dripping, ever? No fluids dripping at all.
~Last time & what fluids have been changed? Last oil change 2/1/17.
~What type of fluids (synthetic oil or regular, motor oil, diff, tranny, transf case)? Only ever used synthetic oil for engine oil changes.
~Evaluate/describe condition of all cladding - scrapes, holes, deformation, dryness, chalky appearance, any evidence of being "painted" in any way? Cladding has fading in areas. Rear cladding replaced due to rear end collision, no other damage. I used Showroom New in 2012 to improve the color of the cladding. The results were good but sunlight shows some streaking. A few scrapes on several areas of cladding. The fading and swirls from the Showroom New are present...needs TLC
~Are all cladding screws present? Any striped? All cladding screws present. None stripped
~Condition of 4 screw knobs on inside rear door panel (often break off) 2 broke so I ordered the 3D printed ones from a forumite and they are great! Originals will be included.
~Condition of inside door opening handle/levers & mechanism (sometimes broken) Inside door handle on driver’s side has recently cracked but doesn’t impact functionality. All levers and mechanisms work.
~Any unusual /excessive vibrations - very subjective of course Nope
~Any problems with motor mounts? In good shape.
~Determine the history of the car's physical location, if possible (i.e. East Coast, potential rust, desert sun (UV), etc) – All its life in Los Angeles
~Inspect thoroughly for rust!!
Any evidence of rusted bolts anywhere?
Is rear gas tank skid plate or tail pipe showing rust? – No evidence of rust.
~Status of front bumper reinforcement bar? (Often rusts off completely) – Looked fine when I had the cladding off in 2012
~Status of rear license plate light/socket/bracket -(often severely rusts) -will give indication if it was in a rust belt area No issues. All works fine with no rust.
~Condition of paint - Describe. (fading, chipping, scratches, repainted areas) Paint is in overall great condition except for the following: Hood has some fading paint. There is a small area of bubbling paint/rust on driver’s side, side rail on roof of car. A scratch here and there on panels. Overall, paint still looks good and fresh after a wash.
~Condition of hood insert - Describe. (very often cracked) Has a crack. I repainted with auto paint but crack still visible. Fading again, could use another paint job
~Condition of plastic headlight housings - any crazing, fogged, cracked, etc...or been restored/polished, etc....(very often cloudy/fogged) The rubber gaskets surrounding headlight housing came off. I have them both but never reattached. The headlights have been polished to remove fading.
~Rubber headlight gaskets- present at all?, ripped, condition Off but I have them.
~Evaluate engine bay- clean? dirty? Any evidence of leaking fluids (old or new) of any type?? Evaluate fluid levels. Fairly clean, No leaking from anywhere.
~Evaluate air filter- excessively dirty? OEM or after-market? I believe after market. Haven't checked it in a while
~Has muffler ever been replaced? What's the status of the current muffler? Rusted, surface rust, etc? OEM, after-market? (Since, as I understand it, these mufflers are no longer available, so an aftermarket one with some modification to the pipes may be required.) Stock muffler. No rust in great shape.
~Has it had to go through emissions testing recently? (Some states require for registration, some don't) Smog check done 2/28 /17
~Ever been lifted or torsion bars cranked? Never lifted or cranked.
~Condition of CV joints? (Can be damaged after being lifted) No issues
~Battery- status, condition and age Replaced January 2017.
~Any unusual flashing of any lights on dash or shifter? No unusual or flashing lights ever. Winter and power modes work as should.
~Any odors inside, such as smoke? Non smoker car!
~Condition of leather seats...scrapes, rips, tears, wear, abrasion, driver's side seat bolster No tears whatsoever. There is wear on driver’s side seat and a little on passenger. I have kept the rear seat out and in storage for years. It is in excellent condition.
~Condition of center console padded armrest -(very often cracked and split where driver's elbow has rested on it) I replaced with new OEM in 2012. Still have the old one. Original had a tear and now new one has an elbow tear but still decent shape.
~Condition of leather steering wheel - (often heavily scraped up) Purchased a new OEM steering wheel around 2012. Looks new.
~Condition of levers that bring seat back forward to allow access to rear seats (often broken) Works and in great shape.
~Does it have an OEM roof rack? YES!!!!
~Are OEM rail caps in place and/or available? Yes I have them all and all in perfect condition.
~Ever taken off road? Absolutely! Not so much in past 5 years. No trail damage or problems.
~OEM or after-market tail pipe? OEM tailpipe.
~Status of tail pipe - any deformation may indicate off road use Good condition. No damage.
~Status of rear lower cladding & rear gas tank skid plate- scrapes may indicate off road use In good shape no damage. I upgraded to the trooper skid plate underneath.
~Status of undercarriage overall - scrapes, damage, etc... may indicate off road use Maybe some scrapes here and there.
~Any known repairs?
Transmission rebuilt 2012
Radiator replaced with OEM 12/12/2013
Rear cladding replaced following collision.
~Any extra parts on hand?
Dash switches – 3 blanks that fit in the fuzzy hole space
Roof basket with Yakima mounts for VX rack and spare tire clamp
Original fuzzy hole – Current one has microphone installed
Original cargo net
Original Bra – Top part only that goes on hood.
Original piece removed for install of front license plate.
2 air vents
Extra “cruise” switch
Several LED bulbs
Extra dome light housing and cover
2 windshield spray nozzles – 1 functional and one broken. Replaced with parts from another VX
~Any modifications done previously that have now been removed? Describe. None.
~Modifications:
Larger tires – Had to trim the cladding in front
Clear turning signal lenses in front
Removed the cd changer and installed integrated container. Run the usb from stereo through hole in back for easy access.
Removed “Isuzu” badge from grill and replaced with “VX” from forumite
Installed a rear door “popper” with integrated Isuzu switch – Haven’t used this in a while and don’t think it works. Frankly, someone had to be standing by it to keep it open anyway.
Installed LEDs on headlight horns and fog lights
Installed super bright LED panel in Dome light
Purchased a second OEM dome light and installed in rear cargo area. Thought I had it wired correctly but won’t come on. It covers the small hole made to install it.
Rear camera installed on license plate. Wiring hidden behind panels.
Replaces speakers front and rear. Original tweeters.
Replaced original antenna with shorter one.
Had new brackets made for roof rack. One OEM remains.
~Known issues –
Gas gauge – Needle jumps around but mostly indicates correctly. They wanted to pull the tank to repair so I just live with it. I use the mileage indicator to see how much time I have before filling up.
ABS – Light came on after a few years of ownership. Crazy money to replace and it has been fine without it. Light is off now but likely just bulb burned out.
Driver’s side interior door handle recently cracked. Still functional.
Replaced windshield fluid pump, not working very well. Also replaced the nozzles from parts sold on forum.
Original floor mats showing wear, particularly driver’s side.
Paint faded in an area on hood
Some rust/paint bubbling in area directly in front of driver’s side roof rail.
Hood latch needs greasing. Sometimes won't open without someone pulling on it.
