just fyi, I did do a search prior to posting
Ive had my VX now for almost 10 yrs, dont ever recall the dash area
ever lighting up around the climate controls.
Are they suppose to ? haha
We sell tons of LED bulbs at my shop and I have them all over my VX
Ive decided to finally add some interior under dash and seat lighting for
when the door are open prob this weekend, and going to take apart the
dash area too and see of the best way to add some lighting around the
climate control too. I have a few ideas in mind, from the top and behind.

So there is lighting in the hvac controls on the 99's for sure. Mine is intermittent and usually takes a whack on the passenger side to get it to light up when it doesn't do it by itself. Other times it turns on simply when I slide from defrost to front vent. I'm guessing a poor design which might explain the change to the 2000-2001 design. Not sure what the bulbs are or where.

The dash surprisingly comes apart pretty easily, I just did it yesterday and no prior experience. The glove box can be lowered by pressing in on the sides to release the catches, that allows you to get to a screw that's faced straight up and hard to undo without a short handle screw driver or a right angle driver. Alternatively, you can remove the glove box entirely. Most of the screws go straight up, and the rest pops out and were attached with just metal clips.

In for pics. If you use LED strip lighting, that would be absolute baller--especially if it's automatically hooked to the doors, interior lights etc.

Once upon a time I had a crazy idea to swap out the rearview mirror for one that supports a backup camera...and using the wiring from it for LED strip lighting that would run the interior around the headliner.

I'd love to see what you've got cooked up.
