I know some of you have replaced your antenna twig with one off of a VW Jetta I think it was. Could the whole thing, base and antenna be used? The rubber seal on mine is shot and needs replacing. If I can use the whole VW unit, then a new seal can be had from new.

I did a search on Amazon and got a OEM looking antenna for about $15. My old one had a rotted base as well.

I have no personal experience, but a search of the site returns several posts claiming the stock VX antenna is a powered unit, and running non-powered (i.e. aftermarket stereo) results in poor reception. The VW "Fuba" antenna is supposed to be powered, but I don't know if wiring is the same.

But I doubt the antennae is a powered unit. I have unscrewed it while running the VX through the car wash which would be bad if powered and have not had any issues.
