I am trying to program a key fob for my JDM. However I can't find the green button. The instructions below say the button is on a box above the LH kick panel, however I can't find it. Is the JDM alarm box on the lefthand or right handside of the car? Any assistance in locating the elusive green button on a JDM would be appreciated.

VEHICROSS: 99-01

1. ACCESS THE PROGRAMMING BUTTON (GREEN BUTTON) ON THE REMOTE ALARM CENTRAL LOCKING CONTROL MODULE LOCATED ABOVE THE LH KICK PANEL
2. TURN IGNTION TO ON
3. PUSH & HOLD THE PROGRAMMING BUTTON FOR 2 SECONDS
4. THE RED SYSTEM WARNING LAMP WILL ILLUMINATE FOR 5 SECONDS (although mine doesn't work at all)
5. WHILE THE SYSTEM WARNING LAMP IS LIT UP:
- PRESS & HOLD THE REMOTE LOCK & UNLOCK BUTTON
6. THE WARNING LAMP WILL EXTINGUISH
7. AN ACOUSTIC SOUND IS EMITTED ONCE AND THE PARKING LAMPS WILL FLASH ONCE
8. TURN IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF
9. Confirm successful programming by locking and unlocking vehicle.
10. Repeat above procedure to program remaining remotes.

This is what the area looks like up under our US spec left side.

Wonder if it's to the right of the break pedal on the JDM...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

figured with this close up pic he could figure that out exactly. Be interesting to know if it's a mirror image, but I think they try to keep as much as possible the same to save manufacture costs.

Here is a photo of the right hand side of the car directly above the brake pedal. The box with the green button is missing. I know that the JDMs do have keyless entry because I have a second JDM that I am using for spare parts and the keyless entry works on it. I just need to program that Key fob onto my Drivable JDM, if only I can find the elusive green button.

I just noticed in my pic the green button box and the smaller black box immediately next to it appear to share a wiring harness.
Could it be it was removed and that wiring harness modified? :?:
I see those 2 white pegs sticking up from the floor on yours, was it maybe mounted to them?
Also my wiring harness doesn't have the black tape or the tubing. :_thinking

I checked my spare JDM with the key Fob that works and it looks identical, including the black tape on the wiring harness and the studs with nothing fitted. At least I now know what the box with the green button looks like.

Thanks for your help Kat.

Mebbe send crotchrocket an email. He's not very active on the forum since he sold his VX but knows the JDM version better than most.

Is it the "green button box" that emits the chirp? If so you could follow the sound in your spare VX maybe?

Nope. The chirp comes from the engine bay.

Not sure if this helps or not but keyless entry "remote" control on US and JDM are different. US also has alarm built in and I don't think JDM does. I have both and can make pictures of both of the keyless controls.

I finally found the Keyless entry control box in my spare parts JDM. The control box is under the drivers seat, however it does not have a green button on the box. Also my registered JDM does not have the same control box or the wiring to connect it and therefore I assume it never came with keyless entry.
The Control box does not have any buttons on it so I am not sure how you can program new remotes. I assume you would need to short a couple of terminals on the circuit board but working out which ones would be difficult. Either way it doesn't solve my new problem that my registered JDM does not have a control box. Maybe I could remove the control box and wiring from one car and put it in the other?

Your pics are not of the keyless control box - that's the window lift relay box matey -- as far as I know no JDM ever came with remote locking as standard - as its not required under Jap regs - some of the later versions 2002 onwards came with an Iszuz aftermarket add on - but you'll find that info in the trooper hand book I think

Steve - PS - there isn't much I don't know about the VX - Crotchrocket cam eot mine to have his work done lol

Strange, I have a 97 JDM with keyless entry and a remote and the door buttons go up and down when you press the remote. When I unplug the box shown in my picture the keyless entry no longer works. Not sure if this is After market installation but the Key Fob has an Isuzu badge on it.

The wiring for the Box disappears into the drivers side door pillar and also under the dash so I will have to see if I can remove it and transfer it to my registered JDM. Looking at the wiring it doesn't seem to be bound in with other harnesses under the drivers seat so I am thinking it maybe be an aftermarket install. I also note that if you google the part number 619431-0050 show on the picture that the results show a Toyota Keyless entry box.
Before I got to the trouble, I will check the doors on both vehicles to see if the solenoids need to be moved as well.
