View Full Version : Jason Mooney is THE MAN!

So, with an admittedly skeptical attitude I decided to give Jason Mooney a chance to fabricate a missing interior trim piece that I had zero luck obtaining thru any other resource. It was the plastic piece that fits the seat belt to the B pillar. Can I be honest? If Jason had produced something that even sorta kinda looked like my missing item I would have been very happy. Unfortunately, I am apparently too dumb to figure out how to insert the image of the repaired piece into this email thread. But I am going to email it to Jason so he can post it for me. Let me just say that it is absolutely PERFECT. It snapped right in and it looks EXACTLY like the piece on the other side. It is flawless. I am astounded and delighted. So if you guys need any plastic piece fabricated for your VX, I can enthusiastically and unreservedly recommend Jason. Seriously, I could not be happier! Thanks Jason. You made my day!

Hmmm, well, that is really cool. How do you do it? Do you make a mold from an original part and then cast it in plastic? Or do you have access to injection molding machines? I would love to replicate 1st gen Trooper black glove box doors.

The process is pretty simple actually, although it does take some time...
-Make a mold of the original part
-Fill mold with colored resin
-Demold!
Possibility's are endless but a realistic build envelope for my ability are parts no larger than a bread box... So at this exact time those skid plates are probably beyond my abilities.:(
Thanks to all the outstanding VX members here are some other projects that I have tackled with great success::yesy:

Anything is possible, Although I woulnt want to touch a project with that risk/liability if it were to fail. Sorry but id prefer to stick to the cosmetics...

Roof rail covers with the crossbars installed would probably be a good seller. I would like a dual ac outlet cover that fits the cd changer slot:) That way, you can hardwire an inverter and move the outlets to the panel for a clean install.

I have a set of rail covers that have the cut outs for the crossbars if you need a set for a template...:bgwb::bwgy::smilewink:bgwo:
