We gave the VX a bit of up hill trailer towing this weekend. We headed past Ridgecrest to Kennedy Meadows up 9 mile canyon road and no issues. Can report CJ had a blast in the river. Starting to like this vehicle more and more.

Thanks, the trailer worked out well its been all over the country and Canada behind my full size Cherokee. I really wanted the VX because I have never had A/C when towing the trailer.

... CJ had a blast in the river.

As long as CJ is happy ... that's all that matters:)

Looks like a blast ... glad you had a great time.

We got to "camp out" this weekend (if you can call what we do camping) & never left the driveway. Storms knocked out our power on Friday night & wasn't restored till midnight Saturday so we stayed out in the RV.

Hot showers, hot breakfast, the entertainment of watching neighbors walking around dirty & hungry ... priceless.

Well I'm sure it wasn't priceless Tom... how much does one of those monsters cost again? ;) :p

Back on subject... what type of hitch do you have? The Tone/replica hitch or the Curt/Dylan style?

That reminds me, the Lock-n-Roll did awesome towing! We took our trailer out as well, dragged it 300 miles each way, 5 miles of rutted out and washboarded roads. I am sold on the new drawbar.
FWIW, I am using the Curt hitch, I welded it to the frame as well as drilled holes through the entire frame and used some long grade 8 bolts. Not going anywhere. I would guess the trailer weighed around 1500lbs or so. VX did well, didn't like steep hills, definitely a 3rd gear gas drinker. I was getting 11-13mpg.

That trailer is awesome, where did you get the nice coiled connections?

Thanks Tom ,
We go out of our way to make that dog happy.
The coiled cable is from Napa auto parts
It's a commercial truck/ trailer harness
and trailer connector.
