View Full Version : New wheels and tires on my Foxfire

So after searching and searching and some help from VXorado I chose my new wheel and tires combo.

Tires are 33"x12.50x15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, chose this tire for being one of the most aggresive mud tires there are, not as aggressive as the Mud Grapplers but I have never liked that tire that much.

Had to do a lot of trimming on the front and rear of the front wheel wells and there is still some rubbing while flexing.
Had the Terra Grapplers before.

Wheels are 15"x8" 6x5.5 Cragar Black D series. Could have gotten a 10" width wheel but liked the look of the 8"

Im not a big fan of black wheels on Foxfires so hopefully I can wrap the VX in a monster green vinyl.

There we go, installed the roofrack, easiest thing ever, thank you for the great job at restoring it, it looks almost like new. Ill probably be taking the load stickers off.

I dont know how much trimming or how it was supposed to be done, I knew how to trim the front of the cladding but not the rear so I ended up cutting some metal which I hope isnt important.

 Glad ya like the rack! Wipe it down with Aerospace 303 every couple months it will stay like that.

I took the stickers off mine too, I like it all black. It's really easy to scratch the black paint behind the sticker, so take it really slow and gentle if you're using a razor blade.

I just had to have that exact same area trimmed to fit my new rims which stick out much further than OEMs. Trimming on the rear part of front wheel well is usually done by bashing the living tar out of the bolt head right there at the bottom of the well. I know there was no problem bashing the bolt back a little, and I'm guessing no problem for you either with cutting it off, but not sure.

I just realized what stands out and makes your new tire/rim set up really pop .… it's the rim striping that matches the Foxfire….I've only seen that in red before, but that looks awesome!

hahahaha you really made me laugh, I guess you are right, that kind of stuff only happens in Mexico.
This is a little tire shop by my house, they do a great job taking care of the wheels when mounting them. They send Ferraris and Porsches to that same shop. They also did a great job at mounting my new tires on my Focus RS without scratching the wheels plus they work really fast.

Yer good. Mine was trimmed by PO & I think he took off a lot more metal. I just got through filling the gap with black RTV. Looks a lot better that way.

Thank you! Most of them are my dads cars, but I am the only one who gets to drive them since he only uses motorcycles, he collects cars, most of them we import from USA to Mexico Ebay is our best friend lol

And then we get some cars here in MExico that you dont get them in America like my Focus RS which I race ocasianly at the local race track, really fast! now I am thinking of selling the RS and buying a 2013 Boss 302 in Gotta Have it green color or a Laguna Seca in School Bus Yellow.
