Who's up for a meet? It's been a while, and I'm sure some of you have new mods you're itchin' to show off. I know we usually meet around Chicago, but if any of you other midwest VXers want to get something going in your area or have other ideas, let's hear them! I've got a 4 day weekend starting Dec. 5th, so I wouldn't mind taking a road trip.

One idea...
There's a Toys For Tots event at the Badlands Off Road park in Attica, Indiana on Saturday, Dec. 6th. Here's the info...

I have no idea how I missed this thread! I guess I need to spend more time on the board :D
I am up for meeting up that weekend. Whether it's Attica (COOL!) or whatever. I need to get some 4-Lo time in. It's been awhile and I'm sure you are itching to try out the new shoes!

If I'm not to busy work wise, I'm up for meeting. Just let me know when and where. I dont mind driving to attica or even upto chicago if thats what everyone wants to do.

nocturnalVX

Nobody else? :sighb:

There's still plenty of time to post your ideas! I don't mind hitting the Badlands park again (it's been a while), but I was hoping to hear from more of the Midwest crowd. Rich & Jay, we could just go down to Texas & see what they're up to... hint hint nudge nudge. :naughty:

Turns out my sister graduates on dec 6, not sure what tiime yet. But, any chance we can move it to saturday night or all day sunday in the chicago area?? Don't you hate it when somone keeps telling you somthing over and over and you write it down in like 3 places and then you still forget about it completely??

I'd love to meet up with the texas folks, but i'm thinking there isn't enough time in the day to make it down and back, really wish my dragon could fly :D

AnalogVX
11/12/2003, 03:33 PM
How long does it take to get to Texas?
You were talking about a road trip...but I didn't think it would take us across the country!:D
I would be up for a day trip for sure. Maybe to Wisconsin even? Cheese run?
Galena Illinois? Are you set on 4 wheelin? How about a Lake Michigan Shoreline lunch/dinner somewhere in Wisconsin or Michigan? I am OK with any kind of meet. And Sunday would be OK for me too.

omegavx
11/12/2003, 08:46 PM
Or maybe even the Dunes http://www.in.gov/enjoyindiana/regional/north/ad_outdoor1.asp, although we'll probably be freezing our tail-pipes off in december up on the lake

nocturnalVX

Figured 1000 miles would be a bit much! ;) I do like the Galena idea Rich... cool scenic roads AND nightlife. Saturday night & Sunday sounds good to me!

Three people from the midwest... !?! Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri... just 3?!? Yee-ikes! This is embarrasing...

O.K. then, where to guys? Omega, is Galena cool, or is it too far for you?

Sorry,
I was absent for a while...

I'm finishing school this week and I would love a little fresh air next weekend. Either friday or saturday is GOOD, but sunday, the 7th I have to work in the morning, 'till 2 p.m.
Let me know when, where and what time and I will be there.

My baby just got new tires and is very ready for fun! :)

I should be able to make Galena Illinois (its north west of chicago right?) on sunday, but friday and saturday are pretty much out. BTW, what exactly are the plans, anything in particular we are going for?

I would definitly be up for a meet. Sorry about the delay, other things have had me occupied for a while.

;Dy; Cool! This meet is starting to take shape. Now the tough questions... what & where? Mr. I, Analog, yal, and myself seem to be up for a little play at the Badlands' Toys For Tots thing, but Omega, you can't do Saturday... correct? We don't HAVE to go off-roadin'. Sin... your preference? Dinner downtown, shoot some pool, go here... http://www.chicagoindoorracing.com/ ?
***My brain hurts!*** :goof:

omegavx
11/26/2003, 10:11 AM
Yeah, I can't make saturday. I wont get done till saturday around 8pm. Then I plan on driving to where ever we decide and probably spending the night close by. Then I'll be there all day sunday for the meet and will either stay sunday night some place and drive back monday. That's why I said Galena, Chicago etc. is fine even though its alittle farther. Cause I can drive part of the way, if not all the way saturday night.

We just need to decide if sunday is the day and if so where we're gonna meet and what we're gonna do :)

yal^
11/30/2003, 08:02 PM
akchem,
I am having a problem with Saturday. It looks like I am going to start new classes THIS oncoming weekend, and since it's only 6 weeks course, I cannot miss it :/

Sunday I could make it if you tell me early enough, so I can take off (just a suggestion, but doable) or I could join you after work - leave at 2 p.m. and get wherever you will be at the moment in no time... I mean time to drive.

I do not know exact schedule yet for the 6th, but it is highly probable I will be stuck at school 'till 4:30 p.m., which sucks.

Please, let me know what, where and what time, so I can plan something. And would anyone give me a cell # in case I would have to catch up with you? Please...

I'm leaving the final decision as to what we are going to do and where we are going to meet up to you guys. If we can't get a final decision by wednesday, I'll probably put in a reservation to stay up near Longgrove Village (http://maps.yahoo.com/maps_result?ed=M7tNO.p_0TqT&csz=longgrove%2C+illinois&country=us). I've been several times and its a nice little place to go and get some apple cider donuts, chocolate covered strawberries and do some christmas shopping :)

I havn't been in a few years, but I know there were a couple of really good restaraunts in the area. A good german place, a really good old style pub etc. If all else fails we could just meet up and have lunch/dinner around chicago or longgrove on Sunday.

Anyway, let me know what you guys decide.

yal^
12/01/2003, 06:15 PM

Sorry I haven't replied. I have been trying to work out some details concerning my daughter's visitation and my weekend work schedule without making commitments for that weekend. It seems all will work out OK and Sunday would be the better day all around for me too. I was talking to Nocturnal and kicked around meeting at the Dave & Buster's in Schaumburg? Kick some tires, have some dinner and drinks and play a few games? It would be cool to try and meet up early enough to still catch some daylight...say around 4pm? Anybody want to meet earlier chime in.

nocturnalVX
12/01/2003, 10:14 PM
Yup... as Rich said, we decided to meet up on Sunday at 4:00 for a little VX show & tell, and then move the party indoors for some food/drinks/pool/gaming. The joint I thought was Dave & Busters is actually a Gameworks and is located at the Streets of Woodfield mall in Schaumburg.
Here's the link... http://www.gameworks.com/locations/01_mainpages/loc_chicago.html

I hope everybody can make it! See you there! :cool!:

very nice :)
although my schedule changed again and I am free Saturday and Sunday, but D&B is good too.
If somebody would like to make it double meeting - both days, I am open to proposistion. Especially that I am skipping shoping completely this year, I'll be free. If not, I'll see you Sunday in Shaumburg :)

Since we aren't meeting down in Attica, In. for the Toys For Tots event at the Badlands, I thought I'd post a way to make up for it...

The Great Lakes Jeep Thing 5th annual Toys for Tots run is Dec. 14th at 10:00 A.M. I guess you have to register, so click here for their home page...http://www.gljt.org/ The parade will start at the 31st Street Beach parking lot off South Lake Shore Drive. All 4x4s are welcome, and I plan on being there early to show off the VX. I'll be posting this info on the Wire as well, so anyone that wants to come out for this event also... KEWL!

See ya Sunday!

Just trying to get everyone together. Seemed like Sunday is the best day.
All is not lost for Attica, however. Check this thread http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=396814&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1#Post400501

Yeah, what Rich said... come on out anyway to hang with fellow VXers, compare mods, and talk endlessly about how freakin' cool our rides are. There'll always be Attica, but (as it's plain to see) it's a little more difficult to get even a small group together, so that's why we decided on dinner & drinks instead of wheeling (this time).

Oh, and speaking of wheelin'... I don't see your name here ~> http://www.vehicross.info/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2467

Got my PV2 installed today and boy is it loud. Its a good low rumble, but its really loud compared to stock. Rich, maybe this sunday we can compare them and you can tell me what tip you put on etc. I actually dont mind the outside noise, its the cabin noise I'm really looking to get toned down.

Looking forward to the weekend,

I've got the 1st gen. PV cat-back system, and it's much quieter than Rich's PV2. It'll be interesting to compare 2 different 2nd gen. mufflers.

Just got back home today. Had a great time meeting you all. I'll try and post some of the pics I took if I can get my camera battery recharged. BTW Rich, here is the info on my replacment bulbs just incase you lost that little piece of paper

PIAA W2 - replaces parking lights, part number 19224
PIAA T-6 - replaces dome light, part number 19223

PIAA reference - http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-Miniature.html
Place I bought them - http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/piaa_bulbs.htm

My head lights are the Sylvania SilverStar's 9003ST, I ended up just buying these at the local auto parts store. They had a buy 1 get 1 at 1/2 price so I jumped at it, saved about $9.00 and didn't have to pay shipping.

Sylvania Reference - http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm

As for the badland's meet on the 17th, I'll have to see if I can make that.

BTW Yal, Anicia had a blast playing that hot air baloon game.

Happy Holidays!

Yes, very nice seeing you all. Gill, I'll keep you posted on the Proton. Job #1= rustproofing. The only places I see are Ziebart and Rhino. Ziebart is about $350 for a full rustproof, underside and inside panels. Rhino is about $150 undercarriage, but must be re-applied annually at $100 a pop . Rhino is not the bedliner, supposedly it's clear. Any suggestions (I'll probably go with Ziebart)?

Cool pics! I'll get mine posted when I get home from work later. Great meeting you Kasha, Jay, and Anicia (is she gonna get her own?). Rich, we have to get back there soon! Mike, glad you could show up, it was good seeing you again (too bad your Proton hadn't arrived so we could all take turns checking out the supercharger ;) ).

She likes my vx, but I think she likes the "smooth" ride of her toyota to much to change. Everytime we go on a trip she always tries to steal my keys and jump in the driver seat :)

I think I finally decided not to change my tip or make any modification to the PV2. After hearing the PV1, PV2 with smaller tip and finally mine with stock tip, I think I'd rather just get used to the interior noise and get the full external effect then loose it.

You are right, I need to put my tires to the test. I was just wandering, if they are so big they fill up completely space, won't they tear up the cladding if I get a little crazy?

And thank you for posting pics. I would like to know if you wouldn't mind if I put some of them into my gallery?
Hopefully we can take more pics in January? I'll try to clear my schedule for that!

Yeah, you can use any of the pics I posted. I just dont post them to my gallery cause I like to provide the largest file size possible. If you need the originals in any other size let me know and I can email them to you.

You know, I was thinking the same thing about your tires. If you hit a really big bump wont the tire get pushed up into the body cladding? Or is like 1 inch enough clearance?? What do you think Rich/Gil?

If I can make the 17th we'll definatlly get alot more pics. I have several 128mb disk's for my camera, so it has room for tons. I can also use it to take 5 to 10 second video's, so we can come back with tons of stuff to post.

Gil, I want to see your water excursion video. Any chance of posting it here? If not could you maybe send me a hard copy? If you need a place to host the video let me know I can put it on one of my servers without a problem.

O.K. folks...

http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/80cnv0002.jpg

the rest of thepics can be found in my gallery. If you'd like higher res. versions, just let me know. As far as yal's tire clearance... I think they would be shoved into the cladding (TimG whacked his fender cladding real good at ZZV upon landing his famous sand dune jump), but if you take things slow & easy there wouldn't be a problem. Make another post here and on the wire for more insight. Wheelin' is good fun, but we don't want to mess up our sweet rides! Oh, and I'm still going to do this...

You have enough clearance to make it through the majority of the stuff OK. Don't jump it like Gil mentioned, and we when we get to some crazy stuff, we can spot you over and have a look to see just how much room you have. The only real rubbing will probably occur when you have the wheels full cranked one way or another and again we can see if anything bad is going to happen and get you over on another line. There's going to be alot of experience out there on that day with all guys and gals going, and they are really good about damage control.
