That is where you connect a scanner. It should be tucked away in a mount under the dash closest to the door.

If you have a copy of the shop manual, look on page 6E-33 (pdf page 12603) for a drawing of the connector. Page 6E-35 (pdf page 12605) shows the location in the cab.

Yep, that's the OBDII connector. It's used by a code reader, or diagnostic equipment, to read the computer and any trouble codes that may be stored. It actually clips into the little bracket with the hole in it right above the connector in your picture.

Here's a picture of mine with the ScanGaugeII plugged into it (with the lower dashboard piece removed).

That's pretty sweet. You turned your OBDII around so the cable from your ScanGuage runs the opposite direction???

Did you also install a biometric lock mechanism in your door jam??? That's a pretty impressive thumbprint ya got there son!!!

Yep, spun that sucker 180 for a cleaner look. No more cable hanging out under the dash. Can't remember 100%, but had to shave a couple of tabs off of the plastic plug to get it to fit in the metal bracket. It still "clicks" in so it isn't going anywhere.

No biometric lock mechanism, but do have ideas for a retinal scanner (OK, not really:rolleyes:).
