You know, I never wanted a bike until I saw these in Japan in 2010. After that, I was bent on building one. What's more, is that I absolutely LOVE riding. Too much in fact...

Heya Bart

Is it a longer swing arm...

...or just appears so cause you cleaned away all the crap.

Jo

Yup, longer swing are, and all the crap is cleaned away, so it makes it look longer as well. If you click my link above you can see the whole build.

...and I read it all...at least I thought I did !!

Then went straight to C/List looking for a TW for sale in San Diego !

Yea yea..I know..not likely!

In a bygone era I rode TS 125's and TS 250's...

...I'd love to mod one of those like you have.

DO IT!!! It was sooo easy it makes me want to just customize bikes going forward!! I think I will do a RD400 or RD500 next...

IIRC...The Yam RD 250 was single handedly responsible for changing British bike laws.

Prior to 1975 ( I think, close enough!)...anyone could ride up to a 250cc M/bike in the UK...
...on a learners permit.
No lessons, no prior experience..just buy it...ride it

Along comes the RD 250...BOOM......250cc's doing what 500cc's used to do!!!

Quick as a flash...learners were restricted to 125 cc.... :p

Too cool, I've got a '73 Honda CL350 Cafe, a '74 Yamaha RD350 Cafe, an '83 Kawasaki CSR250 Cafe and an '01 Harley Dyna Super...betcha can't guess where my first love lies when it comes to bikes?

Yeah, there was an article a few months back in Vintage Motorcycle about the 1975 RD350. It basically said that bike, when it came out, could blow away anything on the street up to an 800cc. Since reading that article, I have wanted one of those too. Plus, 1975 is pretty much the coolest year in history. :)

I love the Honda CL350. I didn't know I loved it until I saw Girl With The Dragon Tatoo. The bike built for that movie is sooooo wicked.

Looking at your collection of photos, you must have a HUGE...

Man, I wish. I have a 3 car garage. So right now, wife's car, Impulse and Trooper are inside. VX and RS are outside. :(

Yeah man! Its actually a really great bike for smaller folks and its a great starter bike. That was the only deterring factor for me, is how small it is, but I'm about 205 and it pulls me well enough and my body size fits on it nicely, very comfortable. It's not a highway bike, but it would be great around town.

When you are ready, let me know, I can guide you to where to get parts and stuff to avoid. It was a really simple build, took me like a month to do it from tear down to completion.

Awesome! They are such fun bikes. Before I tore mine down, I took it out on some trails here. I had 2nd thoughts about streeting it out, trust me. Now I just need another trail bike. ;)

Turns out that the TW is too heavy for Cece to muscle in the dirt & sand, so we will be looking at getting her a smaller lighter trail toy.

awesome bike kinda reminds me of my klr650 that i gave to my brother a few years ago - that thing was awesome i wouldnt mind having another - i had street /dirt tires on it and could take that thing anywhere and it always got a lot of looks - if you say yours is a little small for you the klr should be a perfect fit and very dependable

Great build!

I decided I want to look into a starter bike for my new communte. All country back roads for now and in good weather a small bike would be great.

Bart, when I saw the pics of the "outfits" I realized the real reason why you wanted a bike so bad! Haha! Admit it! :)
