Can't hurt. Lucas wasn't much of a storyteller, in all truth.

I really hope the movie they are working for 2015 isn't a huge flop.

Sooo.....Darth Vader is now living with Mickey and Minnie at the Magic Kingdom castle, Luke Skywalker is driving Lightning Mcqueen across Tatooween, R2D2 and C3PO are having beers with Buzz Light Year and the Force is now really pixie dust.

So much for Star Wars 7, 8 and 9 never being made. Apparently we may also have Star Wars 10, 11, 12, and beyond.

From Msn:

The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow. The new trilogy will carry the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia beyond "Return of the Jedi," the third film released and the sixth in the saga.

Does this mean they plan to use the old cast for the 7th movie??? That would be interesting... :yesgray:

Either way, I hope Disney does a good job with the franchise.

This is likely to be one of the re-imaging things. But it would be nice to pick up the story 20-25 years later. Of course they could also digitize the original cast and pick up just a few years later. It's hard to imagine anyone but Harrison Ford as Han Solo.

I really don't think they could use the original cast. I just saw Mark Hamill (Luke) on another movie... he gained about 150lbs.

I hope they use some of the post-Return of the Jedi books for story lines.

I knew Lucas was thinking of stepping down after his disgust with Hollywood and the whole Redtails debacle but I didnt think he would sell it. Buut good on him. I cant find video anymore of where he stated he already written 7,8,9. he also stated that he can only do soo much and the Starwars universe is soo much bigger than one man can do and Disney is the one to carry them long after he dies (imo he is correct.) Here are a few intresting tidbits of info.

As for worrying about show being in Disneys hands. They bought Marvel from Stan Lee for 4.1 billion a few years ago and they havent messed up on those yet. No im not a comic book guy so I dont get the shortfalls some say movie missed that the comic did not. Lucas will have the same Roll as Stan Lee does now giving input and direction and to keep up with the lore of the universe.

Finally found video

There was a time when Disney made great movies.....there was also a time when Lucas made great movies....both of those times have passed.

There is not much difference between horsepoop and bullcrap, so I don't even see that this is going to make anything better or worse.

I knew Lucas was thinking of stepping down after his disgust with Hollywood and the whole Redtails debacle but I didnt think he would sell it.
I've also read some quotes from Lucas essentially saying it just "wasn't worth it" any more. Too many fans have their own unattainably high expectations that there is no way he could make "anybody" happy. He seemed bummed out that so many were constantly beating him up.

As for worrying about show being in Disneys hands. They bought Marvel from Stan Lee for 4.1 billion a few years ago and they havent messed up on those yet.
I've been trying to remember where I heard Stan Lee talking about Marvel being sold to Disney. (I think it might have been on a Nerdist podcast.) Anyway, Stan said being a part of Disney was a GREAT thing. Not only did they have financial power and stability, they were incredibly respectful of the source material which made for an excellent collaboration.

There was a time when Disney made great movies.....there was also a time when Lucas made great movies....both of those times have passed. Another good comment I read lately - When Star Wars first came out in '77 it was unbelievably, over-the-top high-tech - a complete sensation. Today we see the same level of amazing special effects on TV shows and we're jaded. Now that the playing field is so level, the ONLY way to succeed is STORY and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. If Disney doesn't nail that - the franchise won't be anything special. Hopefully they can add something to the original magic.
