I found one auto parts store out of 30 who knew what Van Eyes was and could order one for me!!

But, he looked it up and there was two basic sizes 8" and 11" or 14" but also they had another listed as super wide angle....
If anyone has used Van eyes for the rear window please tell me which size/refraction one you used....then i can order it,
Thanks!!:)

PS...anyone know where to order it on line?

hey, drdavidr4u -

after asking shops all over about van eyes and coming up empty, i decided to to peruse my good ol' j.c. whitney catalog and voila!! i found a version of van eyes under the RV section.

you can search the online catalog at:
www.jcwhitney.com

2 sizes available - 8"x10" part# 90UC3051A and 11"x14" part# 90UC3052R

i ordered the 11"x14" and trimmed it into a circle which fit between the hump and top part of window. you may find the smaller size to be all you need - some on the board have trimmed their van eyes in the form of a crescent and thus no need for the larger. see MONCHA'S site on this - GREAT how to and pics!!

hope this helps !

I had the 8" size on soon after I bought my 2000 VX new and long before I knew this website existed. Bought mine from an RV retailer, but have seen them at Pep Boys. I only trimmed a small "crescent" piece off the bottom of the lens so that it fit over the spare tire hump. I used water from a spray bottle on the side that goes on the glass so that you can position it exactly where you want it...then the water will dry out and voila! I think I tried windex before water and it didn't work well...left a film. I thought at first I should have bought the larger size lens but after using the 8", I've been very happy. You can see it in my gallery pic just under my pirate flag...lol. click pic to see larger pic.

I've had my 8" on almost since I bought my '99 VX and love it! I have always placed it in the far left (passenger's) side so it doesn't obstruct my limited rear view and still does the job.
