This thread been a work in progress since taking ownership of the vx from "Kpaske" http://www.vehicross.info/forums/showthread.php?t=20380 on May of 2011. Here some of the first pictures taken.... I did take off the yakima load warrior and the spare wheel which was mounted to the rack a day before.

Think I missed that...he sold it already??? :_thinking

Just curious, what happened to that paint? Looks like it lived in Phoenix or Vegas for about 10 years.....

What did you do to the sill plates? They don't appear to be CF, and I couldn't find them listed in your build list.....oops...nevermind...just saw info in other thread.....wouldn't the sills get pretty scuffed up wrapped in vinyl?? :_thinking

Very, very, very well done. My compliments x 100.

I gotta wonder if tree sap or something more than 100% outdoor life ruined that paint?

I like (make that love) everything except the exterior door sill wrap. Only because it doesn't continue from wheel-to-wheel.

Grill is killer, Di-Noc interior too. Gotta wonder what that grill insert will look like after a year and how easy Di-noc is to replace if/when necessary.

Great white-lettered tires. Don't see that much anymore.

BTW..where'd you find the window air deflectors? I thought those weren't available anymore!

Great stuff in this thread!!!!

Nice, looks great!

I couldn't imagine selling the VX after you put all that time restoring & modding it...but you gotta do, what you gotta do.

I can relate to your situation, the VX was my third vehicle... until I sold my truck to save for a house :). Now the VX is the daily driver & gets all my attention ;).

Good score, Amish - seems you got a helluva rig from Dawg. Again, welcome aboard!

What kind of parts are you thinking of cooking up? Won't hold your feet to the fire here because, as you'll surely find, these forums are littered with lots of good intentions that never quite made it past the drawing board. But it doesn't hurt to dream. :biggringr

The OEM JDM window deflectors are virtually non-existent, but WeatherTech still makes theirs for the VX. I've read the JDM version fits a little bit better than the WeatherTech.

They're available at a few places I think, but Summit Racing always has them.

ANSWER...from one of these two sources:

1) In past years a member named "Ron" made them, out of ABS plastic. He stopped making them several years ago. Sometimes you can find them for sale by another member who is selling their VX. I got my front and rear skid from a member selling his VX.

2) Member "rowhard" currently makes them. He started making the front plate a few years ago, and just lastt year started making the rear skid. Contact him for price and details.

Love the skidplates, anyone know if someone makes them or can make them steel or aluminum or such, Id'e buy that, else I would still buy the abs version...awsome VX by the way, I wanted to do something similar in the way of the di-noc. Enjoy!

you can't buy the ABS version new as those were discontinued by Ron....Rowhard makes only fiberglass.

BUT, METAL would be awesome!
Rowhard....are you listening?

I thought about... depends on your definition of "good"

Seriously though, I had a thread about starting fabrication for VX parts. I still might make a couple things but in reality we (VXers) are unique and typically want different things to make our own look. There's a couple things everyone seem to like... skid plates & the concealed hitch. Fabricating takes a lot of time and effort so you need many buyers to actually make "profit" and for the most part there's just not enough VXs to make that happen.

Agreed, but If someone does make a steel skid plate that looks just like the ABS version I'm sure that it could at least sell 50 pieces including to myself, as long as it is good quality. So if JDM or you or someone fabs a prototype and starts a pre-order or commit to buy thread after test fit and pics on their own rig ( they could keep it for themselves it not enough people commit to buy ) I'll be the first one in line.:yesb::yesb::yesb:
